4 year protection plan is $45 through Walmart. Based on feedback about power smart, it would be a good idea to do the extra Walmart protection.
I agree it is a good deal, that's why I upvoted it.

The reviews unfortunately are mostly incentivized and also there are many "fake reviews" aside from that.

The wording on a lot of positive reviews are written as if done by AI or someone on a script. Don't you see that?

I stand by my original post, it would be very smart to buy extra warranty with this item.
I used this in one of the snowiest winters on record last year in Minnesota. Worked great and really throws snow far. The only risk in these is getting parts down the road.

Most people today who buy small engine products use gasoline with Ethanol; and screw up the carburetor....If they were forced to use pure gas, I bet most small engine reviews would be more positive.

Don't use fuel treatments or any of that junk. Just pay a bit more and get pure gasoline which is available ALL OVER the country. https://www.pure-gas.org/

I have this one for 4 years. The only issue is the chute won't hold its direction. I move it to side direction . It would back to center direction within 15 feet.

I've got a +30yr old Craftsman snowblower that I want to replace, but the freaking thing won't break. It's a 2 stroke, so I end up smelling like garbage every time I use it. As long as I put somewhat fresh gas in it, it will start on the first pull pretty much every time, and it has a plug in electric start if I need to start it with stale gas. I bent the handle dealing with heavy snow 4-5 years ago, so a I got some metal stock and reinforced the handle at the joint with the worlds most jankety system, but 4-5 years later it works great. I just can't justify replacing it when it runs great. Besides, I live in freaking snowy Michigan, and this year I have needed to use it once, maybe twice thus far. I had to replace the wear bar on the bottom 6 years ago, which was apparently not a replaceable part. They used some kind of plastic rivets to hold the original on, so I just replaced the bar with one that was the right size online and used metal rivets and it works great. I think I replaced the spark plug once in the 15 years I have owned it (it was my Dads before I got it, and my Grandpas before him). Looking at stuff like this one, I can't imagine it will still be working in 20-30 years.

I'm in the same boat you're in with a toro powershift here

You can't actually say with a straight face this no name brand will perform same as a commercial grade high quality Ariens. You must be joking 😂😂😂
I've had a $1k Ariens for ~5 years, and it had things break and issues starting like many other gas OPE I've had. True commercial grade Ariens stuff probably starts closer to $2k, which I don't have. The Power Smart I have had for 5 years and has never had issues starting and had less things to break, so it hasn't. Just stating my experience.

I bought the same model 3 years ago, used it in heavy snow here in WI. Some observations similar to previous post:
- the unit's chute wobbles/loose and will change direction. I had to bolt down the support for the chute assembly to stop its wobble issue, however the chute will need a continuous adjustment. I ended up using a heavy duty rubber band to hold the handle. This summer I will work on modding it to make it stay.
- the chute up/down cable adjustment gets stuck all the time.
- if you change oil, make sure to use teflon tape on the drain plug bolt. It uses a fine thread, has a mushroom flat head and logically should stop the oil leak. Not on mine.
- overall, the unit does its job, I paid $480 for it from WalMart 3 years ago.

Mkay. I live in north Michigan, but what do I know. Sorry to have offended you. Have a great Sunday.
So guessing you've got a 2 stage....

1 Stage is mostly just a waste of time if you want any chance to clear where the plow pushed snow into your driveway.

Sorry, I disagree again. It is one thing to debate if climate change is man-made or natural occurring cycle of earth, but the definition of climate change is very well established.

In my areas we're forced to use higher octanes to get non-ethanol gas.

Compared to repair prices it's worth the extra money, but it's still a pain.

I would love if they did away with ethanol as an additive altogether.

True, the climate keeps changing...but like tree falling in the woods someone has to be around to make note of it for nature cares not...

I put mine together after some snow last week and was really impressed with it. Unfortunately my handles both appear bent to the left. I assume this is not normal?
