This is also great for cruises where they base your cost on per device. Hook this up first and tie to your account and then connect all your devices to the gl to save. Granted this only works when in your room, but definitely helps for those cruise line that charge per device.

I hear cruises are starting to crack down on travel routers and there's a strong chance they confiscate and return upon conclusion of the cruise.

Guess I'll find out with Disney in just a few months. I know what they wont confiscate -- an old Pixel 3a that can re-share a wifi connection.

Amazon you dont have to pay for returns, whereas you do if you buy direct. I got this direct, it had old firmware, old documentation, and was unstable, so had to return. Wavering whether to get it from Amazon now that they updated their buggy firmware.

Like the GL.iNet GL-AR750 on SD for like $20 bucks. I read on https://thewirednomad.com/vpn that you could even use your Apple TV + Tailscale as an exit node now. (As if I fully understand all of this yet lol)

Just wondering, if on your cruise you use the "Clone MAC Address" way to connect to the cruise wifi, can you then use your phone AND your GL router while on the cruise, albeit maybe not at the same time?

It probably does matter; I guess the question is how often and for how long does the Slate AX exceed 3A. If someone has a USB power meter, it would be worth measuring and graphing power draw over time.

If they did that, I'd stop giving them my business.

But if I were somehow forced to go on such a cruise, I'd take a small laptop or mini PC and convert it into a wifi repeater using USB dongles for extra wifi and Ethernet ports. It's not like we can't load LINUX on it and make a router from scratch--one that even has a GUI web browser to accept captive portal terms.

1. I have no plan to returns other than for warranty or RMA.
2. Old Firmware? I don't care, I bought after someone confirmed EAP supported after upgrade to firmware 4.6
3. Old document? Easy, check on GL.iNet directly
