If you scroll even further down, it says only one display can be shown at a time lol not sure why they label it as a splitter if that's the case.

This is a switch not a splitter.

I don't believe this ist the fault of the switch but rather the OS and the RDP software. To overcome this I personally purchased a dummy plug to mimic a monitor always plugged in. You don't mention which OS but you could try a software fix such as this:

No personal experience but showed up in a quick Google search. Hopefully this helps!

Cannot split 2 connections both at 4k@60hz. One will be 4k@30hz. So if you are connecting 2 4K monitors into 1 port, one will be 60hz and one 30hz

Be careful with 30hz connections. If you have a Mac, it may have trouble displaying 4K resolutions

Scroll down on Amazon. It can be either, and they advertise it as such.

This might be a very edge use case, but I'll add my experience anyways. I use this with both an HTPC and my PS5. If the PS5 input is active, I cannot remote desktop into the HTPC (with RDP, Teamviewer, or Anydesk). Something to do with how the display input is blocked. It's incredibly frustrating and if I knew this ahead of time I wouldn't have bought this. Although it's possible this would happen with any display switch, I cannot say.

Anybody got any experience with that KVM? Looks like a great deal to throw in the bag for JIC.

Speaking as someone who owns this exact product, I can confirm that only one display can be shown at a time. I was not happy when I learned that after plugging it in.

I have an interesting use case for this, maybe someone has an answer to this question-

Right now I have my PS5 hooked up via HDMI to a PSVR (old model, but v. 2) breakout box, and then to my LG C1 TV. I know I'm losing VRR and 120k refresh by having to route through the breakout box. If I use this switch, I can bypass the PSVR 1 breakout box and have a "straight" HDMI connection from PS5 to TV, would that get me some of those features back?
TIA!

I use this device for the following: ps5 connects to this, and goes out to tv and my computer monitor. If wife wants to watch tv, I push the button on this device and now playing ps5 on my pc monitor, instead of having to disconnect the hdmi from tv and connect to my pc monitor. Works well enough.

Try UnifiedRemote, or Nvidia Stream and moonlight (great for streaming anything). I've run into the problem you speak of, and it is frustrating, but I've found these to work great when there's no display detectable. On Windows at least.

Reviews show it to be a switch, no reviews show as a splitter

No they don't, at least not how you think of it. Read their definition of what the 1 in 2 out and 2 in 1 out means
