How? I thought the coupon at Wellbots was bringing it down to $899. That's why I waited because HD had it for $949 in Jan, and I figured for $50 it's worth being able to return locally if there is a hiccup. $799 would make me bite.
For car batteries CATL is pushing close to $50/kwh at the pack level this year from an article I saw. These consumer batteries never hit prices quite like that but I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years 10kwh can be had for $1000, maybe even less if they get popular enough
For a portable setup, with current battery tech (primarily size/weight), I don't think I'd even want anything more than around 5000wh. Beyond that would start getting cumbersome to dig out and put away. For my purpose would be storm/extended outage backup to keep fridge going, a couple lights, and some tv, device charging, etc for some entertainment. 5000wh should be able to add a small efficient air conditioner into the mix and still be sustainable when the weather is clear (which usually is after big storms). I already have a smaller unit and 1200watts of solar it can't handle all of (found used 300w panels locally for $75ea awhile back that all test like new so picked up 4 even though didn't need that many). Just need a better sized power station to get that good balance of everything.
Product life cycle indeed
