Just food for thought on coolers. I have the Yeti 48 Roadie and it has wheels. If you're new to these coolers I suggest going to the store to see the relative size for the volume you want to purchase (pretty comparable across brands). They are super heavy when filled and I know my back would give out trying to lift it so wheels are a must for me and family. This is a great price but without wheels it's a deal breaker.

Cooler? That looks like waterproof ammunition storage to me.

As with all the Pelican coolers, lots of complaints in the reviews about the drain leaking and the seal in the lid having a gap in it. If you order, might be a good idea as soon as you get it to take apart that drain and seal around it inside and out with some silicone.

same here, and ours is a walmart coleman one from 2002 lol. lid still maintains an excellent seal.
the key to all of this that so many forget, is to use a sacrificial bag of ice prior to the trip, to pre-cool the cooler. we do this the night before we leave.
then toss that, fill with new ice and your contents, and you're set for literally days

i totally get the need for products geared towards overlanding, expeditions, safaris, wilderness excursions, and the like. stuff gets beat to hell. and a lot of equipment like this has lifetime guarantees. and i know military uses a lot of pelican products.

for almost everyone deal hunting on SD though, this thing is complete and utter overkill. even if you use a cooler weekly on boating trips for fishing, those coleman/igloo marine ones are perfectly sufficient, and can be had for under $50. and the "XTreme" ones for even less.
One caveat, a lot of boats(particularly nearshore marine boats) use ice chests as the seat. If I was using an ice chest as the seat, I might seriously consider a roto-molded one designed to fit into the position(there are models made to do exactly this). But that is about the only case

Had one used it for a week and returned it.

Small. Heavy.
If you don't properly "season" it before using, it's useless.

$40 Wal-Mart coolers are better for drinks than this.

Like the above posts said, it's better for meat or use with something that is not going to be opened and closed all day.

These Pelican coolers are probably my least favorite high end coolers. The static handles make an already bulky cooler even more bulky. The drains also leak unless you take it all apart a silicon the crap out of it. Even if you don't see the leak right away it's often still leaking into the spotty foam in between the plastic causing it to be water logged and moldy. Polypropylene coolers are also harder to clean than most rotomolded coolers so cleaning pike on top made mine look like a crime scene. The latches are also annoying. End of review.
It seems they "upgraded" the drain on the 2nd generation in 2020. If your cooler is 1st gen, you may have a different style drain than they are shipping with now. I haven't been able to find any reviews of the drains leaking for the 2nd gen and it seems they include an additional gasket (not that I've read every single review), but as a precaution, it wouldn't be very difficult to disassemble the drain and add some silicone for peace of mind.

The lid's seal gap is for pressure compensate so it would be easier for you to open the cooler. Btw, these built like a tank and can withstand heavy impact.

I owned one of these in the past, and while it was good at it's job, the handles take up WAY too much space when packing for a trip.

Have you had any plug leak issues?

Yeah, they might keep ice slightly longer. But at 3 times the cost
An igloo marine or an igloo max cool can keep ice for nearly as long, cost 1/3rd as much, and are far lighter.

Unless your specific use case needs ice for 5 days OR you need the thing to be used as a chair(like on a boat), I just dont see much reason for this. Might as well just save your money. Or are you going on week long camping excursions regularly?
I have the igloo marine and though I do like it's ruggedness, it's very poor in comparison to my rotomold cooler at keeping ice.

I'm with you, the only people buying this should be multi day campers and boaters. Anyone else doesn't need a cooler that last for more than a day, and at that price, just go cheap.

get the marine ultra. It has thicker foam like your rotomolded one

This cooler is heavy even empty let alone with anything in it. The outside lip is very bulky making the cooler take up way too much space outside for what is a disappointing amount inside. The ice doesn't last as long as my expensive Magellan or my super cheap lifetime cooler by a lot. The only thing nice on this cooler is the latches.
