Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

"From an ELIGIBLE" carrier. I'm guessing carriers like redpocket or Tello aren't that.

This sh!t again? I've lost track of how many Metro "deals" I've tried to purchase only to get notice that they couldn't complete the order. Utter garbage.

Around 60 times using every trick for N30 and recently A15. Now after selecting A15 to cart and selecting $40 plan i get $280 in cart. I don't mind paying $40 but for 280 metro can keep this crap.

Change the plan to $60 and you will get it for $65 ($60 for auto pay only and you shouldn't select auto pay)

Got the A54 with the $40 plan porting a number online. $90 out the door is pretty great, shame the S23 FE was out of stock and my visible number expires tomorrow.

Seems they're asking porting details(account # and pin) while placing the order and don't have it handy. Will prolly get them when I'm ready for activation. Is it ok to provide some placeholder numbers for now or they strictly check the details at activation match what was given during the order?

Beware of shady store practices if trying to do this deal. All the stores are independently owned (franchises). The store I went to when getting this deal previously forced be to buy insurance for the phone when I didn't want to. They literally refused to process the transaction without it even after I showed them it wasn't required. I called corporate and they said the store had to refund it, the store said they couldn't and corporate had to do it so they were pointing the finger at each other. I ended up having to dispute the charge on my credit card to get it resolved. When it came time to cancel the service after the first month the store refused to do it because they would lose money. I went to another store and they cancelled it without any problems. Frankly, it wasn't worth the hassle of getting an iPhone 12 for $165.

Funny earlier today $40 plan didn't work for me with port in. Maybe things changed or did you do this on an existing account?

Port-in works for $40 plan in the morning for new order...
their system crashed many times when you put port in number to check port in number

that's why most of the people try not to do deals in metro's stores now.
for the service, you don't need to do anything or to cancel it,
it's prepaid, just not pay for it and make sure auto pay is off, it'll end on its own.
