Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

Read a previous post saying not to do that and GV ports take several days because they're considered landlines. I activated yesterday and got the successful activation email, but I have the same issue as you with calls/texts still going to GV. I don't really care though because I only used the GV number to activate and start the 6 month unlock clock
If you care about that GV number, DON'T delete manually in your GV account; otherwise you will run into a big mess to reclaim the number to correct the problem. Google Voice Help website said don't do that. The number will be disappleared automatically from your GV account if it is ported successfully; that is what happened when I ported into Mint Mobile. To be safe you have to watit 7-10 days; that is what Google said about porting out.

From my past experience!
From last year I had over 5 more Metro phones did not open the box until 180 days after activation.
On day 180, I opened the box and charged phone, no SIM card need put in, connect to the Wi-Fi . From phone menu to request permanent unlock, all were successful !
the rule is very clear ! 180 days after activation! there is no need to make call, no need SIM card plug in. there is no automatic unlock for Android phone, you have to request to unlock manually . the only two model s - Apple device ( iPhone) and Google Pixel phone would have automatedly unlocking.

You need manually request to get unlocked . it won't happen automatically . No risk and no magic...
It's been a few months since I last activated a phone on Metro. Can you activate online on a PC without opening the box?

you should receive the email to remind of you to activate , one click activation link in the email, no need to open the package .
or you still not doing anything, on day 21 your device will get activated anyway.

I was able to order the razr just now.. I took someone's earlier advice and used a different IP by using the hotspot on my phone. I was able to use one of the Google Voice numbers that had earlier been declined, even though it still only said delete in the settings. I used Edge incognito mode and added a line to my new current account.

Anyone delete their Google voice number after porting to see if this fixes the issue of incoming calls still going to Google voice?
1) My porting of GV# to metro ip11 was successful. After the phone was received 2 days ago, it turned out that calls from the ip11 with ported in GV# worked perfectly, but calls to the GV# still went to the GV account, with the ip11 receiving nothing at all.

2) I did delete the GV number last night and just found it got worse: calls to the GV# were always busy.

3) I reclaimed the GV# again and now it got restored to step 1). will see what's going to happen next.

Activated my second iPhone 12 today and now the "add a line" shows up again on my account. An additional line is still only a $30 add on. I guess if your lucky you can keep adding till you have 5 lines.

Do all these phones require a port in. I thought last time they had this deal you just bought the phone out right with one month's service and let it sit for 6 months and and it unlocked automatically.

Received my Ip12 yesterday .Activated with Google voice number on the computer, even received the email that its activated ,but shows only SOS on the phone .
Called Metro ,but of course they couldn't help ,besides removing/installing sim etc. Got told to wait 2 hours for provisioning . Also my number still shows on Google voice and works there .

Anyone else having issues even viewing the phones? It's like it thinks I'm a bot.
