Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

I purchased a Samsung A7 Tab and iPhone 12th to my existing account Samsung A15. Now, 30 days is about to be completed , and I have no intention to pay for next month's bill for A15. How I am supposed to access the account once A15 is deactivated. I can only log in after getting code on A15.

Why do you need to access the account?

Got the same. Had to call in to get it activated. Be prepared to be bounced between t-mobile (post-paid) and Metro (pre-paid). Just ensure you tell them you want to activate on Metro before you start the process.

It has been seven days I activated the number the Google ported number. I still can't receive incoming call. How about you guys?
Same here. I am not sure porting will be completed before 30 days, and by that time, it will be expired and suspended.

All we needed was a phone to get activated on the metro, and the 180-day counter started.

There is some issue with the GV - Metro porting. I have ported out my GV number several times to other providers: Xfinity, AT&T etc. Most times it has been very quick and generally never taken more than 2 business days.

It's been 7+ days for me. GV number isn't ported to Metro - no incoming calls or texts. They show up in GV. Will this affect the unlock eligibility? I was told that Metro would only unlock if the phone was fully activated and functional on their network.

All 3 devices are on the same account, if you don't pay, all 3 devices will be suspended, why do you need access to the account anyways?

At least my Android phone can make outgoing calls and register with Metro Network (provider name in the top left-hand corner). Also, the number is listed in the setting as well. I believe that should be enough for the unlock counter to start (also received your phone activated email from metro).

I hate to say it, but anything a metro employee says on chat or over the phone can be taken with a pinch of salt (most of them are not sure what they are even talking about).

FYI there's talk on reddit that they updated their unlocking backend in Dec and they might be/or start enforcing the 180 of line activity that's always been their terms, but never enforced.
Why do you say they are not enforcing their unlock policy 🤦 ♂️, it clearly says
"One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date."
There is no mention of 180 days of service anywhere, so they are actually enforcing their unlock policy, which is "180 days have passed since activation" I am sure you haven't even read their policy

Woot! Finally was able to order a phone. I used Chrome "incognito" to make sure no naughty extensions were enabled, and mobile hot spot, since they hate my router. They gave me an ID verification test with questions that actually made sense, unlike last time. I also had to use a new Google Voice number to port out, since the last one failed like 5 times, and they hated that number for some reason.

Somehow Metro PCS has a worse website than AT&T, and AT&T's website is god awful.

I guess their internal policy is written that way, according to a couple posts on reddit.

It's not just an internal policy. It is posted publicly in their terms and conditions [metrobyt-mobile.com]:

From the Nord N30 threads. Phones continue to unlock since the supposed system update:

I checked my last activated date on Google my device and added 180 days

From Tuesday, August 8, 2023
Added 180 days
Result: Sunday, February 4, 2024

Tried today and unlocked on first try.
Thank you all for your help on this thread and a painless (I have not even once called customer service throughout this process) unlock process.

Right, my 2023 G Stylus just unlocked the other day too, but nobody knows if they've changed that policy since suddenly allowing port-in on like and access to the better deals. In 170 days or so, I guess we'll know.
