Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

I wasn't getting the verification code on the number I gave them. This is my first line and the only one for which I have the sim card in the device. I don't understand - I've been getting verification codes from 611 every time I log in to my account on this number. I wonder what the origination number is and if I have blocked it somehow.

Any ideas?
On my i12 with the SIM inserted, all the security texts that I got came from "Customer Care" which I assume is 611. I got the security texts each time I logged into my account and when talking to a Port rep, even when my other incoming texts were still going to GV. Check to make sure you're giving them the phone number of the line with the SIM inserted and not the other lines in the account.

It could be that the agent who helped you with the porting saw the pending number for the order to be shipped and completed it too. My agent saw a pending number for my failed order and completed the port for it. As such, it's now a Metro number with no phone tied to it.
It is possible. Waiting on the resolution for the ticket that was opened. Thank you

Are there any concrete info on whether the phones will unlock in 6 months if we don't call in to complete the porting?
No info. Should not effect unlock since even metro agrees it has been activated. You even got a text announcing "your start of service".

I had this same problem on one of my phones but they verified on a different iPhone on my account. Make sure iMessage is on perhaps. Otherwise I still think your phone will unlock at 6 months. Perhaps they can email you a code?
I just didn't want to open the other phones even though I'm not a flipper (just hold on to them for trading later in the fall).

I logged out iCloud but the blocked contact list was still there! So I decided to reset the phone. But something strange is happening! I've just noticed that all my GV numbers ported to Metro can no longer receive texts on Google Voice (only voice calls) while I'm not getting texts either on my main/first Metro line (except for OTP codes from 611). My long term GV number works fine. So it's definitely not Google Voice's problem. I wonder if Metro is doing something about my lines. I'll call the porting department one more time later, but will give up if it doesn't work again. I personally don't care if the phones stay locked though it would be nice if they eventually unlock.

The least I want to do is to visit a local store as both reps suggested!

*Update* Third time worked! The first verification code didn't go through. I gave him the second number hoping it would go to GV, but it didn't work either. I then asked the rep to prefix my number with 1. Not sure if he did it or not, but all of sudden two codes came in! After that, I literally watched my GV numbers disappearing from the GV interface one by one while listening to music on the metro phone.

The rep claimed GV was not releasing the numbers, which I don't believe was the case. But he was super friendly. His English didn't sound South Asian, more like Southern US. And I really liked it!

Will lock my devices away after I receive my last order tomorrow Wink

Yes - get 11 for 15 or 12 for 16 in the fall (my plan).

Unbelievable! What an idiot MetroPCS company. Today they called me again to ask me why I didn't activate my port-in number? I told them you guys cancelled my order, so I got no phone to activate. He was surprised.

So the Google voice transfer issue with not receiving phone calls to the actual phone will never fix itself? Its been a week for me and incoming calls go to google voice. I dont care, since Im not using this phone for calls at the moment, but it might be a useful feature.

Getting this error for the past hour while checking number for port in:

"We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please retry or reach out to metro support."

Update: Looks like they blocked my IP or something because I just used a VPN and it worked.

Made a privacy.com account, used different name, address, email, etc. Tried the same eBay number that failed the other day, but instead of waiting 5 minutes for it to say number can't be ported, it happened almost instantly...

Sorry, we couldn't reserve your number.
We're weren't able to connect with your carrier to get your number reserved. Please continue with a new number, or visit a store to complete your number transfer. Promotions may vary in-store.

Seriously? somebody from Metro called you? I never heard prepaid company cares of customers to make outbound call.
Most likely, it was a scammer called you

Metro will check your port-in number, acct #, PIN, and reserve the number to Metro when ordering. Porting actually takes place when the phone is activated by yourself or automatically 21 days after shipped.
"Reserve the number to Metro"? Meaning it no longer belongs to my current carrier and I can no longer use the number on the current account, right?

Apparently not EVERYONE. I attempted to add it before I suggested it for u (would've suggested it nevertheless for future reference), however the edit option is not available to me. (On a side note, neither is thumbs down an option) 🤷

Just a FYI for the very few who bought the Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 & are planning to use on Visible. Unlocked & it worked for 10 days then today no service. Had to chat for 2 FN hrs to CS. Turns out the Stylus 5G 2023 is not "compatible" with Visible & took the Visible system 10 days to catch up. Grrr. Then CS had to reprovision my old Moto G stylus 2020 which is approved. But now it says Verizon not Visible. Hope there's not more to come in this saga. Oh & I bought a 2nd one yesterday, doh.
