Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

Each account has a different name, email, credit card. There are 3 people at my address.

If you use the famous Crimsonhill804 trick, you may be able to order up to 5 without having to change anything else as long as you see the add a line option. Mixing iPhone's with Androids can be tricky, probably because they have different plan requirements. Of course we don't know if Metro will catch up and blacklist you or refuse to unlock your devices 6 months later.

I did use the Crimsonhill trick but no luck, Tried it from my 3 Metro iPhones and some other Android phones, using Data and Add-A-Line. Kept failing, After 8-9 tries, I gave up.

From May '23 to Jan '24, I ordered 4 Android phones, spaced apart at least 1 month. Got the ID verification questions on the first 2 orders, but smooth sailing after that, until now. I think they've blacklisted my street address instead of IP address.

I thought limit was 2 per home.
It all started 18–20 months ago. If you try to order too many phones, they might block you, as mentioned by others. So order two or three and wait for few months etc

Please contact us to complete your order.

Your security is important to us. Unfortunately can't complete your order online. Our award-winning Mobile Experts are ready to assist you. Please call us or visit a store to continue.

UPDATE: tried 2nd time different card, Same error. Only thing I can think of is I'm currently traveling abroad..not sure if crappy MetroPCS site detected my Ip somehow reject the payment... May have to retry once back to States.. dang it 😑
You nail it perfectly because security questions depend on your credit history. So it is possible your remote IP or location blocks those questions i.e. the last step.

Unless someone opens TeamViewer on your laptop located in the United States and you can do a remote login, Otherwise, ask someone who is in the state to do it for you, or come back and do it.

OK, so you're a current/returning customer. It's possible then they might blacklist your address. I'm totally new to Metro, though I've been T-Mobile postpaid for almost two years. But I don't think the two systems communicate with each other.

Metro has never refused to unlock phones. Spoken by someone who's gotten 24 phones over the years.

I tried to add a third line to an existing account 2 days ago. After going thru the whole process, I hit the submit button and it said to please call to find out why you're not eligible to add a line. I tried again today using my own variation on the Crimsonhill804 trick and it worked. First, I used my laptop and cleared out the Metro cookies from Edge. Then I connected laptop to my T-mobile hotspot on my phone. I pulled up an inPrivate Edge browser and logged into my Metro account and used the same GV number that I tried to port the other day. I used a newly generated virtual credit card number. I would suggest anyone trying this method to have your credit card generate a new virtual card with each attempt. Not sure if that's the reason it worked this time but it's the only thing different from the previous attempt.

"Yes in what in the Annals of Slickdeals will forever be known as the "Crimsonhill804 trick". I was able to order a third iPhone 12 on my account. Again the trick is to take the first phone you got for the Metro account, log in with WiFi off and go to add a line. Got another iPhone for $130 plus tax. Same name address and cc."
