Metro by T-Mobile 180 days unlocking policy![metrobyt-mobile.com]
180 days after activation, your phone will be eligible to unlock! you don't need keep the service for 180 days, once your phone got activated one time, after 180 days, your phone is eligible to unlock!
Unlock eligibility requirements
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Metro confirmed multiple times that the deciding factor of your phones unlock date is whether it was activated before May 1st (180) or after may 1st (365), interesting to see how it plays out because people in here have the terms stating that its 180 days until unlock after may 1st.
Any other information about unlocking is fake or scam!
Do not waste your money to get third party unlocking service ! it won't work.
The MOTO Stylus 5G 2023 has *6* GB RAM, not 4gb, per the Metro website. And assuming its the same phone that shipped last time, it has eSIM support as well....

Does anyone know if buying a T-Mobile # (off ebay) to port into Metro will work for these phone deals? I know T-Mobile owns Metro so not sure if this would work. But the T-Mobile #'s are the cheapest ones on ebay.
T-Mobile numbers will not work for port in promotions with Metro.

Hi, have a question about using a previously activated Metro phone that's now unlocked and isn't currently being used on Metro after the account for it expired. Can such a phone still be used to signup for Metro's BYOD plan later?
I bought a couple Metro phones last year where I only paid for the 1st month of service, So I don't have Metro accounts for these phones anymore. These phones are now unlocked. But when I tried recently to use these phones (Moto G Stylus 5g 2023, Samsung A54 5G) to signup for Metro's BYOD $30 plan, the two IMEIs on each phone (both phones support eSIM) don't pass Metro's IMEI checker at https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/c...e-sim-card. Passing this check is required to signup for the BYOD plan. I get an error message of:

Something went wrong. We only support phone activations at this time. If you feel this is a mistake, please check the IMEI number and try again, or call Customer Care at 1888-8-METRO8 to complete your transaction.
Phone reps are of no help on this issue and tell me to go to a store to try to get the problem resolved.
Can anyone here who has any Metro phone that was previously activated but currently is not being used on Metro try the same Metro IMEI checker page and see if you get the same error? It's be great to get several data points on this to understand if there's really a limitation on not being able to signup on Metro using a previously activated Metro phone. Thanks.

I got the same error when testing with the IMEIs of several unlocked Metro phones. No error when testing IMEIs of non-Metro phones.
Minimum plan to qualify is $75, and wait 1-yr to get unlocked. No, thanks.
For the new plan pricing, the only device that's worth buying is perhaps iPhone 11 - as a trade-in device if you're eligible for EIP with ~$800 credit.

About $800 in credit for ONE iphone11? Toward which device?
I know you can trade-in an iPhone11 to Apple for $200 toward a new iPhone (short-term promotion) or for $160 in Apple GC which you can stack several to get a (almost) free newer model iPhone.

Don't know a thing about it, but posts 2584-2590 might be a clue. Saw a Youtube somwhere about reactivating account temporarily but don't find it right off. page 73 i think.

Thanks for confirming that it's not just my Metro phones that have the issue when trying to use them to sign up for Metro again. It'd be great if more people can do the quick IMEI check to confirm that this is expected behavior.
But does anyone know if this is a known issue? It seems to be a big deal not being able to use a previously purchased and unlocked Metro phone on Metro again. I've never seen this issue raised before on SD, although I'm not on top of all the Metro threads.

You have to be with one of the 3 big carriers on a right plan (e.g. GO5G plus and next at T-Mobile). Currently both T-Mobile and Verizon give you full credit toward a base iPhone 15 with an 11 (or above) trade-in (AT&T is half). It's likely 11 will be moved to a lower tier when 16 models come out.
The biggest advantage of buying directly from Apple with carrier financing is that the device comes unlocked. And there's no activation fee.
