This is literally cheaper than a good deal on cat food! Great treat for my cats!

I believe the cheapest option is the 48 pack of chunk light in oil [amazon.com] for $23.69. That works out to $0.49 per can or $1.58 per pound.

However, this 12 pack of smoked herring [amazon.com] for $11.93 (with 5% S&S) might be a better use of this coupon. That works out to $0.99 per can or $4.89 per pound. Tuna isn't that hard to find on sale, while herring is rarely on sale. It's more of a luxury than a pantry staple though.

Lemon and cracked pepper herring [amazon.com] also has the coupon, but kipper style doesn't.

Can someone explain to me how the vegetable oil version comes out to be more during checkout, even though the same coupon can apply and the regular price is around $3 cheaper?

I actually prefer light to white. Don't get me wrong, if my manservant gives me white, I'll still eat it, just in a more calm and composed manner. Light is also much lower in mercury, which is important if you eat tuna frequently.

Yes the only issue is the very high sodium content of this product—but I made the same comment on a deal where 5oz cans of real tuna (whole tuna) were less than $1 a can. Cat food comes mostly in 3 oz cans and they usually run $25 or more for 24 cans if you ever pay full price. This chunk tuna stuff (left over end pieces and floor scrapings) may not be fit for humans but it is probably better quality than cat food except for the really high sodium content. I am checking my cat food cans now and the only thing they say about the sodium content is that salt is one of the things they use as a preservative — but no levels in mg or percentages are given.

Unlike humans, I need taurine in my diet, and cooked tuna doesn't have enough. A good manservant would add a taurine supplement if I'm going make it a major part of my diet.

I looked this up and the articles seem to range from saying you can't give cats human tuna at all to you can give them human tuna as no more than 10% of their diet because human tuna is too high in calories and sodium and is not a balanced meal. However even the latter article indicates that human tuna is kitty crack and cats love it so much that they may stop eating their normal food.

I looked at my Wellness cat food cans and they do have a lot of vitamins etc so I guess human tuna won't work for cats. That is too bad because at this price it sure as heck is cheaper.

You need to add more than that and even then you run a risk that the cat will stop eating it's balanced cat food
