Ram upgrade: 4gb soldered, 4 can be removed and upgraded. One user on best buys Q&A section said they swapped out 4 for a 16, and the device recognized 20gb. YMMV

If this is a similar frame of the Costco BF deal for $150, I was able to add a 16GB ram stick and a 1TB M.2 SSD to that one with no issues except having to reset the boot order after a bios update.

Do these have an access panel to get to the memory? Or do you have to remove 20 screws and force the whole back plate off?

You need to remove the whole bottom chassis but normally around 12 screws.

Lenovo is from China, gives me the heebie jeebies...banned from federal use because they were collecting user data
My company also changed all of our laptops from Lenovo ThinkPads to Dell.
