Ryzen 7840U is one of the best mobile processors on the market - best mix of performance and efficiency - plus it comes with the best integrated graphics card. You can't go wrong here - only thing would be if you need more cores for virtualization or maybe some of the Intel features for video editing.

Agreed, but this particular model is not the best in a market IMHO.
I tried it and returned back:

- The display matrix has something like matte film in a middle and it disturbs my eyes a lot
- The fan noise is way more than I was expected for the AMD "U" series (perf mode). The noise itself has a lot of mid-range freq, it is annoying.

Overall, I like my Lenovo T490 with the replaced display. It is slower, but the keyboard is one of the best, and I cannot hear fan noise 90% of time.

You're going to be looking a while. 15-inch laptops have disappeared except for some cheapo models. No current ThinkPads have 15-inch screens AFAIK.

I just bought this and have to say I can't wait to get this. This is fully speced out to provide the best power and quality in a portable and lightweight form factor. 14" is the perfect size for all this efficient power.

Wondering same for engineering student. Specs all exceed requirement except one: discrete graphics card. Got to run Office plus Anaconda and Community Edition of PyCharm...

Is this great for photo editing? Lightroom, Capture One, and Photoshop? I ordered the Dell XPS 17" and now i feel like I want to return it and get this instead. My main concerns are if the screen is color calibrated correctly and if it can handle the processing of Lightroom.

Overkill. I'm a data analyst and work with data sets. I don't have a laptop that has 64gb RAM lol.

Comp sci students really don't need much.

Have been looking for a T series also but this looks like a good deal. Would have thought the display/ keyboard would be the same across the lines.

What is the battery life on this - can't find it on the site - did I miss it?

So some light research suggests that anaconda has some GPU-accelerated workflows they run best on Nvidia due to the Cuda cores. If your school is suggesting a laptop with a discrete GPU, I'd be looking at the laptops that have a Nvidia 4060 or better. There is a legion that pops up on here with a 4060 that might be a better fit.

This seems to be the same machine with a 16" 4K screen and a 60% larger battery. Are those two things worth the extra $190? It's $1,189 after OP's coupon.

My experience with OLEDs with Lenovo is awful battery life. Have an X1 yoga gen 8, and maybe get 3 hours of screen time? Even with the built-in Lenovo optimization software. If you want for portability, I'd pass
