You don't need to be outdoors to have problems with this level of brightness. A couple of years back I owned a laptop that was actually rated higher (350 nits) and visibility was sometimes an issue with it on max brightness in a room with a lot of windows (and thus, plenty of natural light).

It would be fine in a more dimly-lit office setting for sure, but in a home with a lot of sunlight or even a table next to a café window on a sunny day may pose issues.
Again, I have used 300 nits laptops indoor with all kinds of windows and lights and never felt the need to turn it up to 100%. However I will acknowledge everyone is different. Some people are used to their phone turned up 100% bright with 100% saturation at 100% of the time. They get use to that and will expect the same from their laptops. Others are more sensitive to bright screens. I still feel the general consensus is most people are fine with 300 nits indoors. Again just because you need the portability doesn't mean you whip out your laptops in all different types of places. There are many business travelers who use their laptops at home, on the plane or in the hotel most of the time.

Every laptop thread there's always a memory snob who wants 128gb expandable memory, the screen snob who wants 1000 nit 8k wh-oled screen, and the dude who lives in his mom's basement who wants a liquid cooled gpu to play Halo 37 on, in a $300 laptop.

Ddr5 but no usb4? Unfortunate
Usb 4 isn't available from amd till the next gen chips, still fairly capable for most applications with the usb c 3.2 with pd and display.

A shame that it doesn't have a mobile graphics chip. P-series is their workstation line of laptop, and I could've sworn for the longest time, that what sets their workstation laptops apart from their regular line of laptops is that the P-series has a higher wattage CPU and dedicated graphics chip so you can do CAD work, edit videos, etc.

As for the complaints regarding it only have 300nits - my Thinkpad T490 only has a 300-nit IPS panel. It is honestly PLENTY bright and panel has really vibrant colors. Putting that next to my Lenovo X1 Nano (has a super gorgeous 2K 450-nit panel ) with both screens on max brightness, the T490 doesn't look dim by any stretch of the imagination, and honestly from 6-ft away, looks just as nice as the X1 Nano's screen.

Not too bad of a machine for the price, except the brightness on its screen panel is rough. Real-world screen brightness is often 20-50 nits below official specs, which would land it in the ~250-280 nit range which is going to struggle in environments with any significant natural light at all.

This might be more acceptable for a larger more stationary machine, but those buying 14" laptops are likely to be toting them around and using them in environments with lighting they can't control. For this use case, 400-450 nits is the bare minimum in my opinion.
I did field service with a Latitude, which probably had a 250 nit screen. It was perfectly fine indoors. There are not often windows in the lab rooms though.

Totally different beast, but you'll likely get better battery life on the Air as the SOCs from Apple are very efficient.

The AMD P16s, which is being clearanced out as well, is very poorly reviewed due to sleep wake issues among other things. Curious why P14s variant has such few reviews, but I'm leery of anything P1Xs, plus they only give you a basic 1 year courier warranty, whereas other P series machines give you minimum 1 year onsite. They might as well put a skull and crossbones on the site that says buy at your own peril or no takesies backsies.

You forgot to add that they complain about battery life/weight/fan noise even if they get all of the aforementioned.

I know it's not a touchscreen but the resolution is better. How about specs?
Which should be better for school?

Depends on OS preference. Having the same company own the hardware and software in your machine is a noticeable difference. I wish I could say Windows+Surface matches the experience… I do like my Surface Laptop Studio a lot though.
