Is Wendy's buttering us up with all these deals before they bring in surge pricing?

I'm assuming it's damage control for their whole surge pricing debacle

These are new offers - so if you redeemed the old ones you can also use these. Worthy of a new thread IMO.

Between these and the free Cinnabon bites, I've been eating way too much Wendy's the last week..

Every few years I go back to Wendy's to see if the quality has come back. I think last time will remain my last.

Wendy's was decent in the early 2000's. These days you're almost better off ordering real food from a restaurant, it's not that much more (except for special deals like this).

Do you guys still have this? I successfully redeemed the $1 burger yesterday.

Was going to go back for the $2 double today, but both offers are now gone in the app. I thought this promotion ran through 3/6.
Yes! I did the $2 earlier, and the $1 is still showing for me.

Unless it's a budget hole-in-the-wall like Five Guys was before they expanded out of Northern Virginia, you're almost certainly not going to do better than Wendys. A Wendys 1/2 lb double cheeseburger costs $7.99 giving 888 calories with 54g protein.

If you go to a sit-down restaurant like Red Robin, it's $13.99 for their basic burger, which is 570 calories for 31g protein. Add "standard" 18% tip, and you're over $16.50! In comparison, Half the price for +60% more meat. Yes, Red Robin includes fries, and a large Wendys fries is $3-something.

If Red Robin is too rich, Applebees basic burger for $12 (over $14 with tip). It's the same 1/2 lb of meat as Wendys, and includes fries like Red Robin.

Either way, Wendys is winning hands down against almost any major sit-down restaurant chain. Which is why I don't go to those places for burgers. LOL

Is Wendy's any good. I remember trying it about 30 years ago and never again, has it changed? I honestly can't remember what it tasted like.

Did a quick search, it happened more or less around the same date. The deal does seem like it came about a day before the news came out.

However, getting a 2nd round of these deals so soon seems too convenient.

They really shouldn't have used the term "surge pricing", which to me sounds like the price will increase during busier hours of the day. Should have called it "Dynamic Discounts" or "Dave's Discounts"...just use the word discounts and they'd be golden
This is right. Surge pricing is already in people's minds as a bad thing. How do you pitch something like this to a bunch of executives? How did they say yes?

I don't know what area you're in (or if that even matters) but this is a frequent problem for me as well (in the NYC area)! It could be intentional. This way you must pay full price at the restaurant (no coupons available) at random times and they get to blame it on an "uncontrollable technical glitch". I had this same experience the other night. The next morning, it worked fine. No "surge pricing", but perhaps "disable the app at certain times pricing"?Just speculation, but it's occurring much too frequently for me to not be at least somewhat skeptical about this!
I'm in nyc, but I find the issue to typically be one of two things: the cell tower I'm connected to doesn't allow me to connect to Wendy's, or the WiFi doesn't. I typically can fix it by walking a block away. And that's for all types of logins (Apple, Google, email/password)

Know what the best deal always is? Buy supplies and cooking for yourself. If you have to handwring this much over low quality burgers, whether red Robin, applebees, or Wendy's, maybe the bet is skipping having someone else make your food.

That's what I do, also I know whos making my food.

If one wants to be clean(er), then air fry the hamburger patties, they come out cooked and juicy.

wendy's didn't use the term "surge pricing". here's what their CEO said during their most recent earnings call:

"Beginning as early as 2025, we will begin testing more enhanced features like dynamic pricing and day-part offerings along with AI-enabled menu changes and suggestive selling."

it was the media that called it "surge pricing"

The current promo still says 03/06. I'm guessing it will keep renewing once a week till 04/10.

I used the $2 twice before 3/6 and not available anymore. The app kept crashing also so I used website and no glitches then uses two browsers and ordered one for me one for the wife. Does not show the new offer maybe after the 6th
