Yes, for activation fee click on the link below which says something like "don't recognize this fee" to get voided immediately. Might need to call/chat for other fees if they are more than the days service was active.

Just got back from BB, got two free phones. The price came out to zero for both phones. No activation fee if it's done at the store. BB agent will scan and activate a new ATT SIM for you to put in the phone yourself. Walked out the store, with free phone, receipt, and ATT SIM card. I already setup the new phone, put the ATT SIM in and will contact AT&T tomorrow to cancel.

Like everyone else in the thread, they fought to keep me in the line or add a different service. Just be firm but polite that you want to cancel.

fwiw I tried to get 2 with new phone numbers instore. Got denied on my AT&T new account application.
Placed an online order for 1 successfully 4 hours later. The only other difference was I used an old phone number that's attached to my Best Buy account online as my contact phone number vs. my current phone when ordering online. Already received a FedEx tracking number, although officially the order status is still "packaging"
Maybe an anomaly in my case as I see others saying they got multiples successfully instore. oh wells.

Mine was easy this time and took only 5 mins. Last time they did push for 10 different things with the line. Now let's see how the next bill comes.

Yes, I got that email and just ignored it. Once the phone was ready for pickup, I was sent an email to make an ATT account.

Only for 2-3 days of service, less than $10. BB creates the ATT account and activates a line on it so you don't want that to be limbo. Hence recommended to create the account and do a clean cancellation

Nope, but they might keep sending you a bill for a ghost account so setup the account and do a clean cancel

they can't bill you later as the phone is $0.00 per Best Buy when you connect with AT&T. No other requirements. Just $0.00, not $0.00 after 36/24 months of bill credit.

I am cancelling through chat on AT&T, and it states "What to know before you cancel wireless service

Good to know: If you cancel in the middle of a bill period, you're responsible for the entire period. It won't be prorated based on your cancel date."

Anyone know how to get around the full bill for the entire cycle?
