Good speaker but there are far better values to be had. I have had dozens upon dozens of Bluetooth speakers and far too much premium and/or budget sound equipment over the years. There is far too much competition to recommend this speaker at this price if you are willing to shop for a good deal and watch some YouTube reviews of the competition.

If you NEED the features this speaker brings to the table and just want a quick deal without thinking about it too much, yes, it is a well built option with good sound output and you could do far worse. As for myself, I've enjoyed the Xtreme lineup of speakers but ultimately sold all 3 of mine because I just couldn't justify keeping them with how good the competition is and the value so many other options bring. Some of this will come down to how you use your speaker and that's completely understandable. However, for the JBL fanboys that will inevitably respond to this comment with some snarky feedback; I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings and I'm glad you enjoy your speaker.

EDIT: Since people really just want to find things to complain about, here are a couple of my recommendations. After that, I'm happy to help people who actually want suggestions catered to their needs and everyone else can just keep finding something to complain about.

- Tribit StormBox Blast: ~$160
https://a.co/d/cfJppb9

- Soundcore Motion+: ~$70-$90
https://a.co/d/0UoZhof

- Harman Kardon Go+ Play 3: ~$130 (amazing deal currently here on Slickdeals and blows this JBL Xtreme 2 out of the water by way of sound quality)

- Tribit Stormbox Micro 2: ~$50
https://a.co/d/aNERFLb

- onn. Large Party Speaker Gen. 2: ~$120
https://www.walmart.com/ip/1212999628

Monoprice Soundstage 3 (portable): ~$200
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=43666

Monoprice Harmony Capsule 300 (if you can find them as they tend to go in and out of stock): ~$80
https://www.walmart.com/ip/837132319

Hopefully this very limited and still vague mishmash of random speakers I've enjoyed helps satisfy some folks. Any suggested speakers that cost more than the JBL Xtreme 2 on this deal are included because I believe they are better values for what you get. My opinion is not the end all, be all. I'm sharing in the hopes of helping others. Take that for what you will and best of luck.
Long post to not provide an alternative recommendation.

I have personal experiences with some of your recommendations and disagree with them. The motion+ and Harmon Kardon in particular have very poor sound.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, it is somewhat odd to hear that you chose two of the most strong entries on that list as having, "poor sound" lol. The Motion+ alone has had fairly widespread praise for years as an extremely versatile speaker with full EQ customization through the app (that many people neglect). While the Harman Kardon Go+ Play 3 isn't perfect for everyone, it is probably the ultimate value in a high quality speaker that can be had right now.

To say that either of them have, "poor sound" is so counter to anything I've experienced with them that this comment almost seems like it was made as a sarcastic joke that maybe went over my head?

Alan Ross isn't my favorite reviewer necessarily but I can't deny his data and methodology. He just released another praiseworthy video on the Harman Kardon within the last 24 hours.

https://youtu.be/ktjCIpky_Lg?si=PSUEOwb8nJmneEsz

You can find a ridiculous number of review videos of him putting the Soundcore Motion+ up against the competition for years and it is always topping the list or, at the very least, a strong contender.

Like I said, my opinion is not the end all be all of sound but to just say those specific two (highly praised/reviewed) speakers have, "poor sound" and then drop the mic doesn't inspire me to reconsider any positions I've taken on the matter.

I've had the speaker for years and paid double. It's been in numerous lakes pools rivers and oceans. It's been in the dirt and in the sand. It's fallen 10 ft to the ground a bunch. It sounds great too! My only complaint is that uses a AC adapter with a barrel connector that uses a proprietary charging protocol which made it pretty difficult to figure out a DC charging via USBC. That of course isn't something most people care about or even understand what that means though.

Be careful buying at Walmart. I bought a counterpart once. If you buy it, check it. There are lots if youtube videos that show how to identify original jbl speakers.

If it is the same as the original Xtreme, you can use a laptop charger. I used a spare 65W universal laptop charger and found the tip that worked. Charges perfectly. I also use the power cord that jacks into the power brick itself to plug straight into the back of my Tribit Stormbox Blast so it's like a 2 for 1 charger option.

.... I do not recommend this. Find the charging option that is designed to provide the power input specified for the product. I'm not going to say I learned this the easy way either. I've ruined some electronics over the years using this methodology (the most recent was a cheap message light sign for my daughter and it started smoking almost immediately). I'm confident now that I have ruined two speakers (years ago) using this type of plug and hope method.

Find the size barrel and specs for power input required for your speakers' battery and save yourself a potentially large headache.

Maybe it would be fine... but you will kick yourself if it turns out not to be

I've had the Soundcore Motion Boom before as well but it has honestly been a couple of years since I have owned one and I know they have added additional Boom models since. I do know that they are going to have different sound signatures with the Boom emphasizing bass and the Motion+ having more highs/clarity. As far as volume goes, if we are talking pure loudness, they will be somewhat comparable based on how you play them and set the EQ. The build quality of the Motion+ just feels the more premium of the two (to me). It has a soft touch rubberized coated body that just feels really nice compared to the cold plastic of many other speakers.

My personal preference has always been the Motion+ but that is purely based on my leanings toward clarity and build quality.

I do not believe there is any way that Soundcore has released that allows pairing of different models together to play in sync.

Here is a good video that will break down what to expect of each in comparison to each other: https://youtu.be/9AlZUuYT9FM?si=AaEILuFBg2wYyXzt

Hope this helps!

I'll share some recent purchases -
JBL charge 4 from Sam's for about $50-60 - for the price fair value
Samsung MX-STB50B from Woot for $90 - absolute steal of a value
Samsung MX-STB90B on sale for $300 absolutely love this speaker esp when connected to the 50B above

I like JBL a lot but for $150 I personally am looking to buy another Samsung when back on sale

There is that Harman Kardon on SD now for $120-130 which has good reviews for quality of music playback

I also bought a couple Bose refurbished at this extreme 2 price range on Bose and they are wonderful also - but for some reason the Samsung speakers esp with the dynamic lighting really adds to our enjoyment.

These are just my opinions and price ranges for reference

Where did you find the MX-ST90B for $300?
