Cory Wong Signature Stratocasters are basically AM Ultras modified to Cory's preference. Compared to Ultra, this model has a smaller body with satin Nitro finish, a slightly larger headstock, Cory Wong's signature SD pickups and a 6-screw bridge.
This is a great deal if you want the neck profile of AM Ultra, but do not like the noiseless pickups. Based on the previous FGW Fender Aerodyne deal, you are getting a new modified AM Ultra for half the price if you don't mind no Fender warranty.

Sometimes Franklin gets excess inventory and liquidates them.
But don't expect a mint guitar as the description says the one you get _might_ have some scratches.
I've complained to reverb in the past. Dealers selling refurbs as Brand New or Excellent. Suggested Reverb add a category called Refurbed. They were looking into it.

Are you sure the body is smaller than an american ultra? AFAIK the american ultra already has a smaller body than say, an American Pro II or whatever.

Nah. They just can't list them as new due to Fender's MAP.
Because it's an extremely well spec'ed US made guitar with a nitro finish for $1200.

Why buy a Fender if you aren't Leo Fender? As long as the artists name isn't plastered all over the instrument I'm fine with it.
