I've had the barista express for about 7 years now. Love it, but now that we have 3 children, the time/effort required to have freshly roasted beans, dial in my grind, tamp, and do the cleanup has made it more difficult to use. At the same time we found the Nespresso milk frother to be terrible. Where we ended up landing is most days steaming milk with the barista express and pouring it into a Nespresso shot. It's like having a double boiler because you can steam and pull the shot simultaneously and no grinding/tamping/cleanup. On occasion we will grab a bag of beans from a quality local roaster and pull our own shots as a special treat, but day-to-day the Breville steam/nespresso shot combo reigns supreme.
trolling right? I have a Keurig, I want one of these. They're not even the same type of machine.
This makes an espresso aka high pressure brewing, concentrated shot of coffee. Keurig makes kind of watered down low extraction but easy coffee, basically opposite end. Nespresso is somewhere in the middle and you get "okay" espresso but it's really not an espresso at all.

Not sure why someone would buy this over a Kuerig or Nespresso.

Ive had this for about 8 months now, saves me and the wife money everyday, not one problem since I've had it. Once you have this at home and get the hang of it you'll be making the best coffee and home, not to mention it's a great conversation piece and eye catching appliance.

Not that people can't google this info, but these are great machines. Had one for 8 years that finally had a solenoid failure and replacement parts are out of stock (my version is the old one with the double solenoid kit with the metal joints..make sure you know what type you need before buying any replacement solenoid for this model). These are great if you want something to learn espresso making on or if you want to research just one item to purchase. About the only complaint is the grinder is very loud
I'm leery of all the one-star reviews on these and people saying that Breville has horrible customer service. I was looking at the Breville Touch Impress, but I'm worried the company doesn't seem to stand behind their products.
I replaced fully automatic with pro version. I have no complaints. You need to dial it for each type of beans, but if you stick with the same consistent brand, there is no need to touch anything. Cleaning is easy, just rinse the tray.
For the right price it is a good machine
