Here is a slightly better deal on what appears to be the same 50AH batteries: https://www.ebay.com/itm/14550785...681b1dd49c

Would these batteries work for my riding lawnmower?
Most require a 20-30AH battery, but I'm not sure that the wattage with these (in that amperage range) is sufficient for cranking.

Almost pulled the trigger but found this awesome system that will fit my needs better: https://slickdeals.net/f/17336784-bluetti-ps72-700w-716wh-refurbished-portable-solar-power-station-239-99

Quite a steal with no work besides hooking up solar on my van's roof!

Link? Looks like $270 for the 12v 100AH on Amazon right now. Cheapest other brand is $160 or more with free shipping (Prime).
My apologies. They were $190 https://a.co/d/3c47VuL

I've had a pair of 7AH LiFePO4 batteries in an APC UPS for a few months. Just pulled them out to check because of what I've read here. One is at 13.4V and the other is at 13.8V, so both are essentially fully charged for batteries where the flat part of the curve is around 3.2V. Balancing is obviously a potential issue when they are in series. I just put the low one on a bench supply to charge and then will put the set back into the UPS. It has worked fine in the few outages we've had so far. Most have been blips or very short outages.
They will work and charge. Just not charge fully. In low cost, low demand applications like this, with prices getting so cheap on LiFe, it's a no brainer to switch over when lead acids poop out.

Balancing is an issue in parallel, if that's what you meant. But proper wiring eliminates that. Series presents no balancing issue.

Anyone know if the "battery tender" brand charger sold at Costco etc with LiFePO mode will charge this battery OK or should a fancier programmable charger be used? Isnt the BMS built into the battery supposed to make sure it's not over or under charged?

Hi drzk, are you EE phd too? Why it would not fully charge under 13.8V in UPS (which is 3.45V per cell)?
There are literally hundreds posts and videos on web and youtube with people sharing real life experience charging Lifepo4 with 3.4V per cell.
This is some random link from goggle search

Chargers for LiFePO4 batteries are actually simpler than those made for SLA. If it says it specifically compatible with LiFePO4, you're fine. The only detail is that some chargers can be set to stop at 80 or 90% of full charge, and that greatly extends the life of a lithium battery. But even going to 100% when charging, you'll still get thousands (IIRC) of cycles out of the battery which is much better than any SLA.

What is everyone using these for?
I bought something similar (12v 10ah) for my kids power wheels type car. Wondering if I really need a 12v to 6v converter when I see all these YouTube videos of people putting their dewalt 20v max (or Milwaukee equivalent) to use as batteries instead

Mind linking the 7Ah batteries you're using? What's their maximum power draw?

Tempting. The 100 Ah would go well for a small camper and the 10 Ah would be fine for a ride-on toy.

Anyone use these for boat trolling motor yet? If so, what are your thoughts?
I bought this brand for that purpose. DOA. Case was all scratched up. Seller was terrible. I eventually got refunded but had to deal with disposal.

I ended up buying a talentcell brand 24ah. It is amazing. Lightweight and powers my small minnkota like a champ.

You've got parallel and series mixed up. Series is two 12v batteries with the + of one connected to the - of the other, to provide 24vdc. Because the same current goes through both batteries, the voltage of the batteries can vary depending on the capacity and condition (e.g., charge efficiency) of each. When they are connected in parallel, they both MUST be at the same voltage because the + and - terminals of one are connected to the + and - terminals of the other, repectively. This provides 12vdc. "Out of balance" means that they are at different voltages, and likely different states of charge.

Perhaps you are thinking of "top balancing" where you charge batteries in parallel to the same voltage and the connect them in series? In that coinfiguration you typically have a BMS with balancing circuits to maintain close to the same voltage on each battery or cell as they are charged in series.

I'm using two different batteries because I got them for evaluation and could only get one from each mfr. (I'm not recommending any particular mfr.) One of them is this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHV5KTKG

However, it appears that these Eco-Worthy 10AH batteries in this deal are better in terms of energy per $ at current prices. The 7 AH batteries were $10 off iirc a few months ago

Any of the LiFePO4 batteries will work. Getting the same capacity batteries is important, and from the same mfr is better (because they are likely to be better matched).
