People keep posting this deal, but I doubt they've actually bought the jacket prior to posting.

For starters, the pictures lie. The pictures show the coat folded partially open, displaying a mesh lining. HOWEVER, the lining stops exactly where the fold in the coat is. Beyond that, there is no lining. Also, the coat has no vents. That means it's not breathable, and if you are wearing short sleeves (it is a spring/summer rain jacket after all) the non-breathable fabric is right up against your skin. So you might as well not wear the jacket - you'll be just as wet, but at least you won't stink of perspiration. The only reason anyone would want this is for the logo on the lapel. To me, it's just not worth it. I returned the one I ordered.

Columbia's quality has fallen off a cliff. The last three items I've ordered from them have been Kmart level quality and being donated to homeless shelter. I refuse to be disappointed anymore, no more Columbia. And I am far from a clothes snob, I wear plenty of 32 degrees and stuff from target.

Purchased this exact jacket from Columbia about one year ago. On a chilly day or warmer day this jacket collects moisture on the inside, my shirt is gets damp every where the coat covered. I have never had a windbreaker I owned have this problem. I've bought many things from Columbia and have liked every purchase but this one. My wife tried the jacket for an hour and the same thing happened to her.

Usually around $40; hasn't been this low in a couple years.

FYI, in Medium, the red/graphite was the only one I saw for $27. There are 5-7 of them in the $45-55 range, and a few at $70-75.

No, Columbia is it's own company, TNF is a brand owned by Vanity Fair Corp. that also owns Vans, Timberland, etc

I don't recommend getting this rain jacket if you live in the warmer and humid areas as the one I owned has little to no ventilation and you will sweat

I grabbed this last time. It's a solid, quality jacket. Haven't had a chance to use it in rain yet, but I have no reason to expect any issues.

Good price on a quality simple shell for water/wind. Not well ventilated, but what do you want for this price?

I bought this and returned it. It felt very cheap and was uncomfortable on my arms.

Great rain jacket if you want to keep the rain off of you but still get soaked. Absolutely does not breathe, so I get drenched in condensation in no time. I have 4 other various Columbia jackets I wear but this one just hangs in the back of my work truck for emergencies only because it is so useless, and because I keep forgetting to replace it. Too bad, because it looks okay, fits well, and the hood and cuffs are functional, as is typical of Columbia jackets. It's just made of a fabric that doesn't breathe and has no vents. Don't waste your money.

You bring up a few valid points but I use this jacket in places like Hawaii and it does the job. Sure there's a tiny bit of moisture due to the lack of breathability but even if you buy high end Gore-Tex breathable materials, none perform well in the summer and none perform well in tropical climates. However, this jacket does excel in colder temps like early fall due to the lack of breathability and keeping in some heat.

I have had this jacket for years and only use it in the Dec - Feb months when I'm wearing multiple layers and it's cold, windy, and pouring rain—it has performed flawlessly for me, and the only complaint that I have is the XL runs really big. I bought it to layer up under while fishing, but it's super big. Other than the sizing—perspiration has never been an issue for me as I only wear it when it's 40 or below and raining.
