People keep posting this deal, but I doubt they've actually bought the jacket prior to posting.

For starters, the pictures lie. The pictures show the coat folded partially open, displaying a mesh lining. HOWEVER, the lining stops exactly where the fold in the coat is. Beyond that, there is no lining. Also, the coat has no vents. That means it's not breathable, and if you are wearing short sleeves (it is a spring/summer rain jacket after all) the non-breathable fabric is right up against your skin. So you might as well not wear the jacket - you'll be just as wet, but at least you won't stink of perspiration. The only reason anyone would want this is for the logo on the lapel. To me, it's just not worth it. I returned the one I ordered.

Columbia's quality has fallen off a cliff. The last three items I've ordered from them have been Kmart level quality and being donated to homeless shelter. I refuse to be disappointed anymore, no more Columbia. And I am far from a clothes snob, I wear plenty of 32 degrees and stuff from target.

Purchased this exact jacket from Columbia about one year ago. On a chilly day or warmer day this jacket collects moisture on the inside, my shirt is gets damp every where the coat covered. I have never had a windbreaker I owned have this problem. I've bought many things from Columbia and have liked every purchase but this one. My wife tried the jacket for an hour and the same thing happened to her.

Was it rain or was it sweat? A lot of commenters have mentioned that it doesn't breathe, that could explain the moisture on back and arms.

We bought 3 of these for a rainy campout last weekend. They far exceeded my expectations based on all the comments on this page. It was a steady rain most of the weekend and we were the only ones in our group that stayed dry. the outside temp was between 45 and 65 degrees so that may be the sweet spot for this jacket as none of us had issues with sweat and I am the type that is always hot and wears shorts year-round.

You bring up a few valid points but I use this jacket in places like Hawaii and it does the job. Sure there's a tiny bit of moisture due to the lack of breathability but even if you buy high end Gore-Tex breathable materials, none perform well in the summer and none perform well in tropical climates. However, this jacket does excel in colder temps like early fall due to the lack of breathability and keeping in some heat.
For hot and humid conditions I always take a very lightweight nylon poncho. This also has many useful functions in an emergency situation.

Thanks a bunch for the info, I came to the comments specifically to see whether this would be a good rain cover for hiking and found out immediately. Appreciate it, gonna pass on this one.

Good price on a quality simple shell for water/wind. Not well ventilated, but what do you want for this price?
For its retail price I think it ought to have at least some cursory arm vents.

Pretty much agree. "Large" is yuuuuge: sleeves past my knuckles and one could smuggle a large rodent or small mammal in the billowing material at the waist. Another poster's comment about the lining is accurate: only the inside front is lined. Also, was disappointed that the chest pocket is secured with velcro, not a zipper, and a single short strip of velcro at that.

The jacket felt and looked a bit like wearing a trash bag.
