I tried on a pair of HOKA 6 or 7, can't remember which. The shoe felt too narrow in the arch, a common problem with most HOKA models.
Considering you don't even know what model it was, people should probably discount this entire comment. Especially since they don't have the same feet as you.

That would be a mistake. HOKA makes only superficial changes to their legacy shoe models from one update to the next.

The Mafata, Tecton and Torrent models are trail alternatives from HOKA that don't have a narrow arch fit. I've tried all three in the past couple of years.

The Mach 4/5 and Mach X are road models that have a comfortable arch fit. I've owned and ran in all three of those shoes.

The Bondi 8 is perhaps the worst fitting shoe HOKA sells. The arch is narrow, prominent, and painful.

I swear by all of my bondis. I currently have dozens of shoes, and now only exclusively wear my hokas. Most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Guess your feet are pretty different from mine, as is your opinion.

Hokas feel like walking on a cloud. I have tons of shoes and now also only wear my Hokas.

Bucknerfan hates Hoka look at his history according to him he owns every single hoka.

this is a great trail shoe, good on trails that include some roads. Great at transitions between the two, easy to wash, and doesn't run hot, I have average to slight fat feet and the toe box is fine. This is my trail race shoe, light and nimble, great for any kind of distance. So far I've pushed half marathon on trail and felt just fine. They are good on super technical terrain only 1mm less on lugs than the speedgoat 5.

Looking for a good men's outside walking shoe (I walk around 5 miles a day on my town's asphalt roads). Is there a particular Hoka shoe that anyone with experience would recommend for me (~6'0/190)

Sounds like it. But HOKA shoes are not the most comfortable shoes on the market.
I'm open to suggestions, but I would imagine "most comfortable shoe" varies from person to person. What brand and model do you suggest?

I agree that bondi 8 fitting is not great at arc at least for me.
It seems like a sure good fit for some runners as they are selling like hot cake.

Last year I tried Challenger ATR 6 and it provided good cushion for day to day sports and activities. I am not much of a runner. It lasted longer than NB, Rebook, Nike while providing good support. I would buy that again for that price ($69).
