Surprised nobody has mentioned yet that this is from a 3rd party seller on Newegg and they don't have great reviews for the last 12 months. YMMV.
What?? Intel makes laptops??
The catch is mainly the Arc GPU since AMD and NVIDIA GPUs are more reliable/stable. Also, the A550M is close in performance to a RTX 3050 and if you're willing to spend $200 more you can get a similarly specced laptop with a RTX 4060 instead

Might not be the exact same specs, but here's a review of the model:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Int...643.0.html [notebookcheck.net]

The Intel NUC X15 neither impresses nor does it disappoint. However, taking into account its CPU performance and high power consumption, the laptop's price is simply too high.

Its inefficient Arc GPU delivers less per-watt performance compared to its comparable competitors. The same as on all current GPUs (RX7000, RTX 4000), the A730M features ray-tracing cores and AV1 support (decoding and encoding) - features that are necessary on a creator laptop.

The device's emissions are typical for this class. Practical runtimes of almost 6 hours can be classed as decent. Its USB-C port (Thunderbolt 4) doesn't support Power Delivery but it can output a DisplayPort signal. Furthermore, the laptop features expansion options (docking solution, external GPU). All-in-all, the installed FHD display (15.6 inches, IPS, 144 Hz) left a good impression on us.

An alternative could be the Asus VivoBook Pro 16: It features slightly lower computing performance in total, however, it benefits from longer runtimes, Power Delivery and a 16:10 screen. The Aorus 15 9KF-E3DE383SH could be a good budget alternative. Thanks to its GeForce RTX 4060 (TGP: 140 watts), it delivers much better gaming performance than the X15. You can currently find it online for around US$1,040. We already tested a more powerful version of the Aorus 15.
Yes, that is the model (a step up) that they did not find too impressive. Still not horrible at this price. Would be fun to test in real world

I do kinda wonder if the ARC GPU is much faster today than when it launched. They made massive strides on the A770

I currently have a 1660 super and 11th gen i7 processor in my gaming laptop. Would this be worth the upgrade?

All of the ARC GPUs have made tons of advances. The latest one really increased the integrated ARCs a lot.

LOL 144hz but Intel Arc? It's a contradiction. The only thing it can run at 144hz is the desktop. And with Windows 11, you'll be lucky if it can even handle that.

No wonder it's marked down so much

Calling a non-NUC a NUC is goofy. It's become a generic trademark for small PCs, so I can't see this helping laptop sales due to consumer confusion.

A couple steps up on the processor side
Faster RAM, but half as much
A bit of a loss on the GPU side. Additionally - many believe ARCs are "not there yet" for gaming (but I have no experience with them, only reviews).
If there is nothing wrong with your current rig, I don't think you would celebrate this as an upgrade.

Yeah, maybe if it had the a730m. I have an A770 desktop version and the last few driver updates make them pretty nice. I still use my 6950xt but it works better than the 3060 ti I had prior to the 6950xt in my opinion.

I have the previous gen laptop, Intel NUC x15, model LAPKC71F

This model, LAPAC71G, has a much smaller keyboard and no full size up / down arrow keys. Just a heads up for those that play games using directional arrows. Might be a frustration for some people.

I'm really surprised these new NUC laptops are not sold as barebones compared to the last few gens.

I haven't had time (or motivation) to research the ARC cards that much. A lot of the specs are good, prices are great, but it took AMD a while to work out some bugs and get embraced by the gamer world, so Intel has to get through that (and prove it's a market they want to be in/support for the long haul). I just really like supporting "other options" as that keeps things competitive to keep prices down.
