Speaking of games!....This is a potentially serious issue! What they're doing is resorting to intentionally debilitating the app/website at certain times, so that you can't place an online order and use any of the offers! I can't attest to this occurring nationally, but there have been several complaints here on SD about the app/website being dysfunctional (or not functional) at times. I'm in the NYC area, and this seems to occur frequently in the early evening (peak time for ordering)! The offers disappear completely, and there's a message stating that online ordering isn't working! It's become routine (at least in my area), and I've confirmed it with several others at the restaurant (who are encountering the same problem). You can reinstall the app to no avail (I've tried it numerous times). When you attempt to use it again, you'll get another error message. You're just wasting your time spinning around in circles! Then, miraculously, an hour or two later, everything goes right back to normal (consistently)! I'm convinced that they're playing games! In a sense, this is actually another version of "surge pricing" (or whatever you choose to call it)! Once you're on the way or at the location, you'll be victimized by their game and be forced to pay full price! Most will be passive and deal with it (and that's exactly what they're depending upon). I'd strongly urge as many of you as possible to go elsewhere if you have a non-functioning app/website! If enough people do this, perhaps they'll stop playing this game. If you call them, they'll (of course) claim that it's a technical glitch, so that's just a waste of time! Perhaps it's only affecting certain areas, but the only way to combat this is to boycott Wendy's when they debilitate the app/website! If this is intentional (and it very likely is), then it's truly underhanded, and they deserve to lose business as a result....lots of business!
i dont think it's intentional, but their server is just absolute unreliable trash. They want everyone using mobile, so they can eliminate the "extra" employee at the register, so when the app is down, they are losing orders.
As for the offers, if you load your offer into your account beforehand, there's a good chance it will be available for purchase at the register, even if mobile ordering is down.

Very interesting, I've gotten a new phone and reinstalled the app and I can't get any of the coupons to work on my new phone as well as my last phone. It just acts like it's going to load and then it never does and I've waited several minutes...I've reinstalled it...nothing seems to work. I'd love to hear anyone else's solutions if they have any. Wendy's was my go-to restaurant but they've lost my respect, they're the slowest to fulfill orders, their leak of surge pricing strategy, their increased prices, their technology is obviously garbage...I really just want them to do better. They're an Ohio company, where I was born and still live...I want them to be great but I'm just at a loss on how I feel, I'm just left overwhelmingly disappointed.
I can check the app fine at home. Near the Wendy's doesn't work. Get home, works again. I don't know if it's just time based, but for me it seems to be location based as well. Very shady.
At home where you probably have more reliable wifi vs. near Wendy's where it's more dependant on your mobile carrier which can be spotty?
Next time, turn off your location or use a VPN and see if it still happens again. If it still does, then you have spotty carrier coverage. If the app works, then you might be on to something.
Not trying to be mean, but a few of y'all really seem to prefer conspiracy theories to explain things.

This a deal site, but I don't mind offering some tech support haha.
Personally, I'm on Android so this might not apply to iPhone. Sometimes, when it's wonky I'll stop the app, then clear the cache. If that doesn't work, then I'll clear data as well. Clearing data does mean you'll have to log in again. I have noticed that newer Android phones (Galaxy S23 on up at least) have this option to remove permission...and it's turned on by default for every app. Maybe your permissions for the Wendy's app are turned off?
They didn't "walk back" the "surge pricing", that was misreported by many news outlets. The CEO said "Beginning as early as 2025, we will begin testing more enhanced features like dynamic pricing and day-part offerings."
Wendy's executives have since clarified that its dynamic pricing model would not increase prices for customers, saying in a news release the CEOs comments were "misconstrued." Wendy's said that while price adjustments could happen in both directions, the upper limit would remain the current price.
It sounds more likely that they may offer "happy hour" deals similar to what Arby's used to do with the sliders, or Taco Bell did with their drinks.
"They didn't walk back the surge pricing" is something that only the gullable people will (foolishly) believe! Firstly, "dynamic pricing" and "surge pricing" are interchangeable. Secondly, the geniuses at Wendy's original intention was to institute a policy to increase prices (even more than normal) during peak times and provide lower prices (or perhaps maintain their routine prices) during off-peak times (such as mid-afternoon or late night). That's the real truth. "Clarification" if you're a member of team gullable. It wasn't "clarification"! It was exactly how I described it...."walking it back". Instead of admitting that they're morons, they played the "we never actually said that" game! You can label it "clarification" if you'd like. I see no need to give these greedy corporate monsters the benefit of the doubt! It was actually a plan to cover their stupid asses because Wendy's was getting too much backlash about this crazy idea! The entire idea was scrapped and simply won't happen.
So now that you know the real truth, I have a nice bridge to sell at a big discount. Interested??

It's not a "conspiracy theory" just because you choose to label it that way! This app debilitation game is either randomized somehow or based on a specific time frame (and may vary by location). The potential for it to be signal related is minimal....although the OP you responded to may have actually have phone issues vs. carrier issues. Whether or not it's a rampant problem is still TBD. It's real. It's not a "conspiracy theory"!
Perhaps others who've experienced this nonsense can (please) chime in here? Thanks!

You have to do 2 things. Add the coupon and then add the item to the cart.
Burger King and McDonald's apps are more convenient when adding a coupon's item.

I'm not giving Wendy's the benefit of the doubt (since they are being shady)....but in your situation, if it's not an issue with poor signal from your carrier, then you may have a problem with your particular phone. Emphasis on "may".
Yes, that's exactly my theory. But let's say your assumption is correct. What benefit does Wendy's have to "play games"? The short term gain of people overpaying? People are price sensitive with fast food. Especially with you living in NYC where there are plenty of options, they would only lose customers. How many times does a person need to pay full price at Wendy's before they stop going there? Sorry, but that's way less probable to me than them simply not being able to handle the sheer volume of orders.
Anecdotally, I've been eating at Wendy's way more since they started having the $1/$2 Dave's Singles and Doubles. I suspect they're trying to get me try out their food and get me hooked.
But you're entitled to your opinion too.
edit: why are you still eating there if they're "playing games"? Wouldn't it be easier to just eat somewhere else? I know I would if that's what I really believed.
I understand your point, but this could potentially be an experiment, and most customers would rather pay full price than have to go elsewhere. Especially after work (the time when this is occurring). And especially if they prefer Wendy's over another option (or it's more conveniently located). There are many variables at play here and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this is being done intentionally. Especially on the heels of their crazy-ass "dynamic" (aka, "surge") pricing scheme (which they walked back). BTW, as I mentioned in other posts, I did eat somewhere else. Burger King. No issues whatsoever with their app.

My opinion is as valid as yours. Your evidence so far has been purely anecdotal, and plenty of people including myself have not run into these issues.
You still claim Wendy's is "playing games", which is your right. Do it all you want, but maybe it's time you stopped doing business with them. Not much else I can say to you, so I will respectfully stop responding to you after this.
I think it's just a coincidence, I'm with others that don't have issues ordering at busy times. The only issue I ever have is with WiFi/cellular, but usually disabled WiFi temporarily fixes it (or turning off my VPN/iCloud Relay).
A coincidence? 3 days in a row (and randomly prior to this week)?....and during the same time frame?
Just an FYI, unlike BK or MCD, you can use multiple offers in one day. I order the doubles for pick up. Then order a singles at the drive thru. I get two big burgers for just $3. Been eating these all week. And people say fast food is getting expensive. Hog wash. You're just not doing it right.
You can definitely use multiple offers (on the same day) at McDonald's and BK. The only problem is that McDonald's forces you to wait 15 minutes between offers and BK cripples the offers for a full hour (which is insane!). Wendy's has no delay between offers but they must be used on separate orders.
