Meile will not go down below a certain point. They are a premium brand that seems to use decent build quality. I took apart my c3... It's solid stuff. Maybe the circuit boards can get cheaper but honestly not likely... They built a brand name and they want to make their margins on it
Just wanted to add. My c3 has been one of my favorite purchases to date. I bought a number of cordless ones for spot clean ups including the Samsung jet top end model and everytime I use anything other than the miele I get frustrated. It has better suction on levels 1-2 than the cordless does on max and its quiet enough I can talk to someone with it running.
Wish miele, or anyone made a good bagged stick vacuum. Hate bag less clean up

The only one of these canister vacuums that is worth the money is the C1 cat and dog which has an electrically powered carpet head, similar to one of the old electrolux's canisters, but even that is a compromised version of the c3 line. Canister "Turbo" (meaning powered by air) heads on carpets are not nearly as effective as having an actual second motor on the carpet cleaning portion. The c1 cat and dog is made in Germany. My 2 cents: Full size upright vacuums are effectively useless in a home environment IMO as they can't simply can't get under beds and sofas with the rare exception of something like the Sebo felix. The only scenario where an upright vacuum has a place is if you are a custodian vacuuming large open carpet spaces in an office building. Try vacuuming under your bed with a Shark or Hoover upright.

The C2 was a bargain (made in Germany) but is discontinued. C1 series is cheap Chinese stuff and the C3 is overpriced (also made in Germany)...better to buy a SEBO when on sale (rarely)
I got a C1 Turbo Team in blue color last year and it is made in Germany.

Previously the code worked with the top of the line C3 vacuums (cat /dog and mariner) now it doesn't seem to?

I have an old Miele Solaris I picked up from EBay around 15 years ago for about $500. It came with a powerhead, floor attachment and various other attachments. It's still going strong and is built like a tank. It is super quiet and I rarely go to higher wattages since low power is good enough. I recently bought another one that I will give away to family. There's levels to everything and Miele is worlds better than the knockoff brands out there. Buy it once for life or buy cheap multiple times.

I have a Compact c2 Electro+ and it is the bomb. I paid ~$400 in 2018 and it is made in Germany. Even though I kinda regret the compact size, its effectiveness is awesome. I bought a larger head for hard floors and it makes vacuuming tile or wood faster. I agree with the earlier statements about the effectiveness of canisters for getting under furniture. Mine came with the turbo brush and it is really necessary if you're doing carpet or rugs. I have had several vacuum types over the years and they all have their place. A cordless for speed and convenience. A hand-held for even more speed or ease-of-use. I even have a Kirby which is an over-priced monster-sized vacuum I don't use anymore. You need to buy your vacuum based on usage. Even a used Kirby from a vacuum store can be an awesome buy; some vacuum stores have used Mieles that are in awesome condition. I have always heard there is a material difference in the German-made ones.

I bout this a few years ago, another SD frontpage, I've only had canisters previously (Dyson/shark/hoover), and with 2 dogs they never last more than a year or two, plus a mess to empty and those filters suck to clean constantly. I was very impressed with the suction and found bags very convenient. We have a yellow lab and he literally sheds tumbleweeds. This thing can suck those up from inches away, socks, dryer sheets, etc it never stops. Love this vacuum, hope I can keep it in the divorce.

Oh yeah, got a generic set of bags and filters very cheap at Amazon

Agree with almost everything above regarding these canister vacs and dogs that shed.

However my best advice is to be VERY careful with generic bags. We shop for cheaper/discounted OEM bags because we have found the generics don't actually filter nearly as well and so for us using lesser quality bags seems penny wise but pound foolish.

Great info on Vacuums on PerformanceReviews on YT, the content creator is hardcore but knows his stuff like nobody's business when it comes to vacuums, it's an amazing resource.

Huge thanks OP! Our Shark just crapped out two days ago and I was on this website yesterday. Decided to wait as they didn't have a code and then you showed up. Moving on to a real vacuum.

They really are a great vacuum. Idk if I could ever go back to bagless. When your vacuum gets full with a bagless you always end up doing that dance of "where should I dump it?" If I dump it in the kitchen trash it's going to go everywhere. If I dump it in the trash outside then I have to bring a grocery bag with me to dump it into and still end up with a face full of dust.

The bagged Miele is what you wanna go for. If you have a lot of carpet, you need the more expensive Cat and Dog version w/ the electric power brush.
