Also, everything is expensive, including parking, but you can leave the car for free at P+R parking lots, though it's a bit outside the city.

Other closer (1 hour by train) cities like Metz or Trier are probably not on someone's european wishlist, even though they are nice destinations for a one day trip.

For Dallas it gives plenty of destinations like Rome, London, Amsterdam, Vienna and bunch of other EU capitals in $500 range, so I'd personally steer away from LXM, when there are so many other great options.
