Available directly from Horizon Hobby for the same price if you prefer:
https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/1-10-granite-4x4-v3-3s-blx-brushless-monster-truck-rtr-green/AR... [horizonhobby.com]

This is a good, flexible, intermediate level truck. Fast enough to keep older kids and adults entertained, but can be turned down for young or inexperienced users. The transmitter has a switch to limit power to 50% / 75% / 100%. Newbies can start on a 2S battery at 50% and eventually work up to 100% on a 3S battery. Unlike some of the cheaper Amazon trucks, parts to repair it will be readily available. This would be a good way to get started in RC and eventually upgrade to a 6S vehicle when you're ready.

I have an Arrma Kraton 4S truck that I run on both 3S and 4S, and cannot imagine ever having any desire to upgrade to 6S. 4S vehicles are already preposterously, stupidly fast on all surfaces.

I'm just saying this for perspective. A 3S truck isn't like a toy for beginners or something you'd find at Walmart. This is a serious hobby-grade vehicle. The majority of people will not feel any need to even upgrade from 3S in my opinion. You have to be really into the hobby to go beyond that.

Do a solid and buy through Tower Hobbies or Horizon Hobbies directly - same company and the actual owner of the Arrma brand. It'll end up being a bit cheaper if you have their free membership or their club membership, due to points earned for a next purchase.

This is about as low as the Arrma 3S models go, good deal. As snowdrifter said this will run from around 20 mph on a 2s battery at 50% to nearly 50 mph on 3s. There's plenty of room to learn and grow, parts are available and inexpensive and they're pretty easy to work on.

Keep in mind you will need to factor in the cost of batteries and a charger if you're new. The Spektrum smart line are nearly foolproof but pricey.

I always wanted R/C car hobby since a kid but was poor. Now 46 and have the money and time...just wondering if I'm too old. I know nothing about this hobby.

Definitely not too old, anybody can enjoy RC. If this is in your budget (plus another ~$100 for a battery or two, charger, some spare parts), it would be a great vehicle to get started. And if you decide you really enjoy it, there are larger, faster, more expensive vehicles to upgrade to later.

Never too old. Tons of YouTube videos and this truck would be a good start to the hobby. Zee lithium batteries are priced fairly on Amazon and work great.

Awesome RC truck. I have one. Careful of your ankles, this thing can go fast enough to break them.

This is great. I ordered from Tower Hobbies and had some loyalty points from a recent purchase (Rival MT10 4x4 Brushed for $180). I had $10 worth but was just a few points from another $5, so I followed them on Facebook and visited them on YouTube through their Loyalty Club page and got extra points to get $15 off and only paid $245.

Plus, I got 6.06% cash back from a certain T op C ash B ack site.

What's the best charger and battery combination for this to also grow with and use in future cars? Looking for quality over price

I have one of these and a big rock. My son and I use them only once in a while. The granite I haven't broke yet. the big rock I broke an arm. The granite is more compact so probably less chance of something breaking. It's a good starter car. I had the brushed version and returned it, the brushless version is 100x better and worth the extra money.

I'd get a dual charger and probably at least 6000 or higher batteries. You don't want to be changing batteries all the time. There are many charger and battery options, idk what is the best
