Great tool. Makes quick work of any branches that can fit in. It can absolutely lop your finger off. Always store it without the battery and out of the reach of children or anyone else you don't want to grab it.

Thanks!

I've been resisting buying one of these but the price is too good not to. I wanted the red 6" chain saw but this will do 90% of the job.

You won't lose them. Worst case, you cut them then get them reattached. A little physical therapy and they're good as new. 👍

Do they even fail to cut through a branch and get stuck?

I haven't had it get stuck. On some thicker fresh cut stuff I've had to do two cuts to get through, but usually it goes through the first time.

When I try to 'cut too much' (cue AC/DC 'Touch Too Much'), I usually give it a few extra squeezes, and if it doesn't clear, I'll flip the tool/branch over and attack it from the other side, and it usually clears the cut in a squeeze or two. Have cut through quite a few dead limbs this way. Be very deliberate with every squeeze of the trigger, and the tool remains safe, get in a hurry, and safety is the first thing that goes.

Does anyone have one of these that doesn't throw sparks. I've returned four of them for that reason.

It's normal to visually see sparks with this tool. It's a brushed tool. It's also listed in the Dewalt manual that comes with it that you will observe sparks. It will be more noticeable in lower light conditions as well. However, the tool works great!
