I had this game without an online membership.
On the plus side you could probably play this and resell it for $30, or go and get this used for that price.
The main campaign is kinda meh if you're not too interested in a 2d platformer or even designing your own levels.
There are a good amount of extra levels submitting by contributors that don't require Nintendo online service to download.
My son and I got a bit bored with it after a while since it was a bit grindy and not much of a plot to keep us motivated.

Sorry, not really grinding in the sense of diablo or animal crossing, but you just play one level at a time and reach the end.
Some levels can be a bit on the challenge rage inducing side for a little kid. My kid was 7 when he played it. Kids these days don't have the patience and grit to beat incredibly difficult levels.

No just get super Mario wonder if you just want to play offline. The main appeal of this game is the unlimited user created levels you can play in online mode
I agree, this game is the most fun when you can play online to create your own levels and share them with others. Or play levels that other people made.

Good to know that you can also have fun without the online component. Thanks for the info.
