They're really durable. I'd be shocked if you had a problem.

Replacements on Amazon are pretty darn cheap and the included ones will likely last you about a year if you use it daily.

There was a time where the people at Aeropress said they considered including a metal reusable filter with each Aeropress, but after a taste-test, decided against it. Something about oils that were only trapped with paper filters.

Best deal on the filters?
Is there a "permanent" gold/foil type filter available?

I've been using an aeropress since 2008, and am still using that exact model from 18 years ago. No degradation or damage in all that time, it's indestructible. I paid $25.99 from Amazon in April 2008, so the price hasn't increased much over the years!

Also picked up the fellow prismo metal filter in 2018, it doesn't produce better coffee, but the valve means the coffee doesn't leak into your cup while it's immersion brewing so you get a more complete extraction, which helps control sourness in the end product. You can skip it and invert the aeropress instead for the same result but that can be fiddly.

Very easy to use AND clean-up. Nuke a cup of water, put in 2 scoops freshly ground beans, pour in water to the 2 mark, stir, steep for 90 seconds, push it through, then you drink it. If you need a second cup nuke that water while the first one brews. If you're making coffee for a crowd, don't use an aeropress.

Do these filters allow a lot of sediment through

No, the paper filters that come with this are pretty thorough. And you can stack two filters if you want, some people report being able to taste the additional pressure extraction (dunno, I already know I can't).

I use a metal permanent filter (in a Fellows nozzle), and I do get a tiny bit of fines, so I pour everything but the last few drops.

I've been using aeropress for over 5 years. Best coffee maker hands down. If you brew it right with correct temp and time to your preference, you can get excellent smooth non-bitter black coffee. Of course, still depends on the beans. I grind my whole beans with a manual hand grinder every morning. its a great ritual for fresh cheap and better coffee than I can get at any local stores.

Temu is not how billionaires shop, despite their ads. And the products I've seen from them make H&M seem like Nordstrom quality.

I bought into the hype on these and although was fairly happy with the coffee, it's a mess to clean and I went back to my OXO single cup drip. I will probably still pack the travel version when I go on an extended trip, but even then it's worth the simplicity to splurge on decent local coffee.
I'm not really sure what you could be doing that would make it a mess, but the aero press is honestly the easiest and cleanest way that I make coffee. The ONLY downside is that I can only use about 250ml of water per brew, and I prefer a 300-350ml cup usually.

Pro tip for anyone that reads this comment and is dissuaded from buying this amazing coffee maker based on the "cleanup": once you're done brewing just pull the plunger back out like a quarter of an inch. That will allow you to remove the cap from the bottom without any coffee coming with it, then just walk over to the trash can and press the plunger fully through, and a nice puck of coffee with the filter plops right out, no mess at all.

I've been using AeroPress since 2014. My original is still going strong. I just bought 2 more from this deal: 1 for the office and 1 as a gift.

Compared to my 10 year old one, other than the fact the new one came with like 50 filters instead of 300 they are the same.

Remember to remove the rubber seal from the press to wash it once in a while, it can get nasty underneath if you don't. I replaced the rubber seal after 9 years with an Amazon special, it fits loose on the plunger and makes it really tough to press down (too large). I recommend using OEM part instead, its' only $10.

I've used both the metal filter (The Disc by Altura) and paper filter, can't really tell a difference in taste since I switch beans so much. Metal filter eventually gets clogged and it's more work to keep it clean in everyday use. I recommend sticking with paper.

Coffee always come out good with the Aero. I use Baratza Encore on setting 14. Make sure your beans are not stale!!

Can confirm this is $1 lower than when I bought the kit in Dec 2022 from Walmart. However this version seems to have removed the filter holder tray and the funnel.

Also, the default/recommended recipe for coffee tastes BAD to me (others may love it).

I spent a lot of time looking up alternate recipes/procedures and settled on James Hoffman's "ultimate aeropress" technique and it is way better but the time requirement is also about 4 minutes after all of the setup. He has a 3 part YouTube video on it if you want to look it up.

but what ever do you mean, Temu won't lie on their ads. Or their product images. Or product description!

I find it sad that everyone talks about saving the environment and then Temu becomes one of the largest online marketing shopping places. They're a not B2B or B2C, they're a B2L company, business to landfill. All of their stuff is garbage more or less.

If you don't want to buy a replacement, you can actually reapply (food grade) mineral oil to the rubber [youtu.be] to get it back to size. The rubber gasket has mineral oil that is leached by the coffee oils, causing it to shrink over time.

I've only done it once in my 9 years of owning it, but depending on how often you use it, you may need to do it every couple of years.

Can someone explain why Fakespot is giving this Walmart listing an F? I'm new to Fakespot, I only installed it a few weeks ago. I don't see why this would be an F. People seem to like Aeropress, they are the ones selling it and Walmart is reliable as far as I know.
Walmart does some fuzzy stuff with reviews like importing reviews from elsewhere. The Aeropress also has a rather legendary customer satisfaction factor that could look fake as well. The amazon listing is 16,000 reviews at 4.8 stars. I wouldn't worry.

Thank you for the tip! I'll do it on the new ones I bought.

Opposite for me: I got the Aero because I got tired of washing my french press and waiting for 4 minutes for the brew. Aero only takes 1 min and the grinds come out as a puck, simple rinse and it's done.

Out of stock.
Which seems like a crock. It's in stock at $30.99 (but with no tote).
