This was on another thread, multiple posters that claimed to be big fans of the series did not like 5 and suggested 4 or 3. Based on that 3 might be the better buy if trying out the series

I am just repeating info as I have not played the series.

Damn! That sucks but I'm still gonna try it out. I saw that Rune Factory 3 Special was $20 too.

I bought this on launch originally and performance is VERY BAD on switch. Extreme frame drops and choppiness overall. I would buy on a different platform if available.

Game itself is fun if you're a fan of the series, it just seems a little more shallow than the last entries

I agree. Switch performance is garbage and often straddling the line between barely playable and unplayable. As stated, the game itself is a bit on the basic/shallow side compared to the likes of 4S, but it's fun if you want a sort of Zelda meets Stardew Valley type game. You can beat the entire main story in like 10-20 hours and that's not even like a speed run pace, that's just pretty normal pacing if you focus primarily on the main story. Just get it on literally any other platform than the Switch.

RF4S is the best one. RF5 is okay but not as good as the previous entries. They did some experiments with 5.

Really enjoyed RF4. RF5 runs pretty bad on switch. Frame drops. Long load times.. and just was not a good experience at all. The 3D isn't very detailed.. I compared the grass/ground of the city to the first level of super Mario 64.

I would consider PC but definitely skip the switch version.
