Looks like a good deal for an average smart TV. We currently have the 65" Amazon FireTV but we are very disappointed in the lag when navigating through the apps. It drives us crazy. We have 1 gig WiFi so it's not our internet. Any recommendations for a 65-75" TV that has a faster processor? I don't know where to begin. TIA!

If you like the display panel itself enough, you can just get an HDMI device like Roku or Fire TV, and use the functionality that way. Then you get to save bunch of money and won't have to replace your big TV with another TV!

Something like the Fire TV stick Max will be so much faster

Great idea! For future TV purchases, are manufacturers posting their processor info? I've been having a hard time finding that info.

Just an observation. Both Google's and Amazon's TV OSs are a side business, not their main bread and butter. So if, TV manufacturers put in low end processors into their budget TVs, neither Google nor Amazon are really focused on optimizing the OS in the long run.
LG, Samsung and Vizio have their respective TV OSs, and suprise, suprise they really only issue OS updates for x older year TVs. I suppose that's because they get to sell more TVs to replace their "recently outdated" models.

Roku's bread and butter is to have as many eyeballs using their Roku OS, be it via TV or streamer. It is in their best interest to keep their OS optimized for every piece of hardware for as long as possible. That way they can keep getting ad revenues.

Like I said, just an observation.

We still have a 10 year old 1080p 55 inch dumb TV (no Roku, Fire TV, Google etc built in). We bought Google Chromecast 4k when it came out about 3 years ago and it has been functioning well, but still slightly laggy.

Good advice was provided here to buy an external device such as Apple TV which will provide you a butter smooth experience for $130 or so.
