i have been using my comma 3 since christmas of 2021. over 90,000 miles on it and i love it. this is for the newer comma 3x.

i have it on my 2020 Lexus UX250h and my 2022 RX450H

it takes driving to level 2 autonomous driving.

it will keep you in lane without having hands on the wheel.
it will keep you in lane when you are braking
it will keep you in lane during stop and go traffic.

it will do stop and go traffic. you can have both hands on a big mac in traffic and the car will start and stop.

FYI i bought mine when it was $2500 plus 200 for the cable. $1050 right now is cheap AF.

There are clones out there but i read constantly of failures. mine has worked flawlessly.
I run sunny pilot fork.

You dont need to drive a lot to need this or appreciate this device. its one of those things, once you have it and use it you'll never want to go back LOL.

Unfortunately, my car is not compatible, but I'm glad that original jailbreaker Geohot's invention reached SD/mainstream.

Just FYI, Comma can do things other OEM lane keep devices can't because they don't have to take responsibility for what happens. They are sold as a development kit and user has to take the responsibility for installing the software. If anything happens it's on you.

No - but you as the driver can get into an accident.

The key here is that this is a driving assist device. You as the driver behind the wheel needs to maintain control. At all times.
I think the simplest rule should be, "If you're sitting behind the wheel regardless of system, the responsibility buck stops with you."

I do also owned comma 3, and would never want to go back to stocked radar cruise control. This is far beyond better....

Can it automatically break for you if you are going too fast or if the car in front stops suddenly? Is the sensitivity tunable?

Does it tell you when the green light comes? Like Tesla

How is this helpful in city driving with Hyundai palisades? It already has adaptive cruise control for freeways that I love. Is it worth getting this on top of what standard palisades have?
this user did the exact comparison. Night and day difference.

Quick question for whom has experience with Comma 3x: how does it handle the heat from the sun? The reason I ask is because my last dashcam died from the heat. Judging from the way Comma 3x is mounted, I'm wondering how well it can hold up.

As someone who's very unfamiliar about self-driving capabilities, I see that the OpenPilot capabilities for my car would be limited to "automated lane centering above 32 mph, and adaptive cruise control while driving above 10 mph."

For anyone familiar, is that enough to make it worth it? This would basically be an upgrade on the smart cruise control that already exists in my car, right? But seems like no turns, no start/stop, no stop sign or traffic light handling.

There are forks that support customization for sensitivity. Openpilot will send you emergency brake needed alert if it feels it can't stop fast enough. You must pay attention in these scenarios.

It is super capacitor based, not battery. This is how heat resistant dashcams work as well. But a) it has thermal throttle for the snapdragon 845, so stock software won't let it run if it's been cooked, you must blow dehumidifier on it to cool it off. But reality is you should take it off the windshield, it's a sliding mount and USB c cable. 10seconds.

Start stop is useful but lights are nearly worthless . This is good for you if you do a lot of highway miles. Not so good if you are in bumper to bumper all the time, or in city

I have comma 3 in my Toyota Higlander 2017 and Comma 3x in my wife's Sonata 2022. This device makes driving fun. installation was pretty easy in both cars.

I really wanted to try it out but I drive accord 13 to work , 35 highway miles one way and it's not supported. It's a great option for my wife's palisades but her commute is only 7 city miles. Don't know whether it would be worth for once in a while long drive with kids. I wish they supported older vehicles, and I understand why they don't as it needs cars built in semi-automatic systems to get full potential. Done with my rambling😆.
