I wouldn't be so sure. The amount of people who are dumb enough to agree with another commenter that this item alone can do the same thing to sunlight as a gas generator can do to gasoline makes me question the amount of functioning brain cells the average consumer buying this kind of item really has.
There is another issue, if you leave the unit connected continously to power the BMS loses calibration and you end up with lower than stated capacity as time goes. not a good thing.. So you need to periodically (monthly) drain fully and recharge . Kind of a pain, unless you're okay with such.a tihing..
Every big company does. It's just where they choose to sell them. Some companies sell them all to other companies to sell and some do it themselves. People return a lot of things for different reasons. Amazon sells all their open returns in many many different ways. Most of them they just stack on pallets and sell the pallets for a set amount of money. Whatever you get is whatever you get when you buy a random pallet.
I got one at $109. on the last EBay deal and it's a very solid product. The initial charge it had on it (93%) took me two days to completely discharge. The amazing (IMHO) recharge time was 1 hour!!! I've tested all ports of discharge except for the car charger. The USB-C, USB-A, and A/C plug all perform perfectly. The rate of discharge for lightly charging up many devices simultaneously takes roughly 10-12 hours depending on the devices. The digital readout on the front on this battery gives you all the information you need to know how quickly things are charging and discharging. This is a great deal, mine came shipped in the original box with a car charger and A/C charging wire as well as all documentation.
Are these any good? How can can it reliably run common appliances?
If your appliance has a large startup power it may trigger the breaker. Check the instantaneous startup current versus the maximum the generator can supply

Gas is also stored energy but we call those generators too.
In your comparison to this, what is the gas? If it's sunlight then you mean to tell me there is no other piece of equipment needed to convert that sunlight to energy? By energy I mean electricity.

Solar Generators are called this because their common use case is to "generate" usable AC and DC power out of sunlight via conversion from solar panels. Also a primary use for these was to replace portable generators which rely on gasoline or propane. Hence, it's a generator and not a battery bank, because you can plug solar panels into any one of these and generate AC/DC current with it.
But since this doesn't include any solar panels, you would need more equipment to "generate" the electricity. It's really just a battery bank with a built-in converter.
Wow, you're right. How has no one said this before?
Am I supposed to care if anyone else has said it before? I didn't see it stated earlier in the thread. I'm wondering if enough people bought these thinking they didn't need anything else to generate electricity and found out it's a glorified battery bank and sent it back, hence the sheer quantity of refurbished units available.
For people new to this kind of item … I'd recommend spending your money on a unit that will at least boil water… which is about twice this size. You also might consider an inverter that you wire to your automobile that would handle the 120v rapid charging of the solar generator or boiling water.

I see posts like yours in every thread, yet I've never seen a single person actually confused at what they got. No one thinks these are generating electricity.
I assumed your comment was just a joke like the "no HDMI" posts, but apparently not.

If you have long blackouts, you'll need something bigger.
