I've been using this for several weeks and am very pleased with it, so I'll keep highlighting it for you all when it goes on sale for $400-$430. I still haven't found another in this price range that I'd rather have. Best specs I've found lately for a ~$400-$450 NEW laptop (versus refurb if that matters to you). I'm very happy with it so far. I compared it head to head with the lower powered Acer Aspire 3 (has been $266 refurbed from Acer via eBay, but only has the Ryzen 5, 16GB, 512SSD), and decided to keep this and return the Acer.

Specs (source):
15.6" FHD (1920x1080) 16:9, 300-nits, 45% NTSC, Anti-glare, On-cell, 10-point Multi-touch, IPS Display
AMD Ryzen 7 5700U (8C / 16T, 1.8 / 4.3GHz, 4MB L2 / 8MB L3)
16GB (8GB Soldered + 8GB SO-DIMM) DDR4-3200
512GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe 4.0x4 NVMe
Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics
Wi-Fi 6, 11ax 2x2 + BT5.1
HD 720p with Privacy Shutter
Non-backlit, English Keyboard
42Whr Battery
65W Round Tip (3-pin) Adapter
1.61 kg (3.55 lbs.)

Non backlit keyboard is the killer, also no lighting ports But the non-backlit keyboard is the main issue.

pay 180 more and get a m1 MacBook Air open box.

really this thing seems cheaply made, and seems like they cut corners everywhere

im not a Mac fan, but the m1 MacBook is hard to beat

Yes because I am a DA and can't multitask, got distracted with something else while posting, I meant Thunderbolt ports.

I can't imagine buying a laptop in 2024 that didn't have USB-C charging (unless it was $300 or less). And this should be $300 to call it a deal.

Thunderbolt is patented by Intel and AMD won't pay royalties. It wasn't until zen3 or zen4 (guessing here) when AMD added usb4 to the chipset, and it was up to system integrators to add it as a feature to a laptop. If you see a system with thunderbolt and AMD then either AMD, or the integrator paid and it was most likely the integrator. Thunderbolt and AMD is rare though. https://dockshub.com/thunderbolt-...way-is-it/

I like thunderbolt because it is a strict standard unlike usb4 which can be implemented to different levels and still be called usb4. It's misleading for the uninformed, non-tech savy, etc etc.

Yeah. Don't we all wish something like this was a normal sub $400 regular price. "They" keep telling us the inflation inflation BS...

But, based on the commentary, if someone can provide a link for a better laptop with Ryzen 7 or better processor (this has), 16GB+ memory (this has), 512GB+ hard drive (this has), 300+ nit touch screen (this has), backlit keyboard (this doesnt have), Thunderbolt charging ports (this doesn't have) for ~$400-$450... I'd be the first to line up to buy and support it and sing its praises.

I've been looking for a ~$400-$450 laptop since Black Friday and this is the one I settled on as it had the best specs that fit my needs (I'm not that concerned about backlit keyboard as I can Touch Type old school in the dark and while the USB C charging would be great, for some reason manufacturers seem to cut that out on Windows based laptops at this price - my Chromebooks all have it). Quite happy with this Lenovo, all things considered. But I'd be fully supportive if anyone can find a laptop that provided more for less $... I'd rather not go with a Dell Inspiron either (a Dell XPS, then we're talking).

If people need PC software, like PowerBI, M1 MacBook won't work because Parallels won't resolve all PC software needs. Apple Silicon doesn't allow proper Bootcamp sadly.
