If you're running the heater on low I suspect you're pulling 500 watts which is too high for this (175)

No. This is for small draw devices like led lights, charging phones and laptops, etc. Maybe a small led tv, router, that type of thing.

No high wattage devices like heat guns, space heaters, hair dryers, fridges, etc.

Can't speak to Ridgid's quality for this specific unit, but based on the Milwaukee M18 version of this I have, these things are nice to have around. Good way to measure actual battery capacity, and make use of tool batteries that might just sit idle otherwise.

Looks like they're a little coy about how much the USB-C output can do though.. unless I'm missing something.

This thing is 175W, of course it's not going to power a 1200W heat gun... use your brain a bit.

YMMV depending highly on the specific fan. running a small USB one at 10W would run maybe 2-3h on the included battery. Bigger batteries will go further of course. M18's got 9 & 12 AH batteries which are 162Wh and 216Wh. More useful if you intend to really use them for things like topping off / running laptops/devices and that kind of thing.

No plan to get one of these, but good to see hands on one. Looks like this one claims 45W USB-C PD. Milwaukee's M18 version of this will do up to about 55W actual throughput via USB-C PD, then settle in around 45W as the battery dips below ~50%. These units seem pretty similar overall, neither has 2-way USB-C though, only output.

That video covers it pretty well but to put it in text.. this is only an ~18 * 2 AH = 36 Wh battery in this deal. a typical efficient (~8W) 120V AC LED bulb would in theory run something like 3-4h of runtime factoring conversion losses. Direct DC brushless fans can be very efficient but they aren't super common.

own too many Ridgid batteries so decided to buy this, best decision. I don't use it daily but when I do is freaking useful, lights or fan or emergency laptop charge (laptop drains a LOT), cellphone, soldering iron, etc etc

I've been looking at the ego and ryobi versions of these since I accumulated a lot of batteries. Now I am looking at solar panels as well…. It's like I opened a can of worms..

Yep, agree 100% with your comment. I always have a bunch of my batteries ready to go already! Power outage, portable floodlight, run a couple living room lamps, power a fan, laptop power when on the road. Man this thing is really handy. Daughter had a softball lessson- the 2 mah battery powered my laptop for 1 hour before draining down and dying but worked exactly as needed for portable power (ran off usb-c).
If you are in the Ridgid ecosystem pick one of these up, you won't regret it.
