Very tempted by this to just have a great laptop for the next 5+ years.

Is the screen size a limitation at all here as far as throttling goes? I've read some comments here with other MBPs that if you don't get 16", you can't actually access the full speed/power you are paying for?

96GB RAM is too little. I need at least 1 TB of RAM.

it can be used for LLMs training/inference, can load up 70b model or even larger one for future proof.
apple M chip also has unified memory and 96gb ram can be used for GPU like Vram. RTX 4090 only has 24GB vram, so it can be considered as 4x4090. of course it won't be the same power/performance like 4x4090, I'm just saying the vram amount that can be used. Nvidia H100 has similar Vram but cost $30-50k per card.

just one example

Wouldn't recommend getting 96GB Ram / $3500 on a professional workstation for 5 years, you get it because time is money and it will make you more money and pay itself off this year before you upgrade it again in a year or two because the even faster one makes you more money.

Or because you don't care about price and will just upgrade it again shortly next time.

The Venn diagram of getting an extremely out spec'd device and keeping it for a very long time is pretty small.

GPU wise, I guess only comparable to 4070Ti desktop version.

Apple is really great... we in tech industry has one saying "we dictate what users want".. Apple really push this motto to its extreme. I see a lot of MacBook with only 8GB ram and now this is 96GB Smilie

So far, I thought 8GB is enough since we have a unified memory.

RAM is getting larger than hard drive space of the earlier days computers.
