You can use this company based in Portugal, but make sure you use a no foreign transaction fee card on Paypal and pay in euros, if you don't want paypal to charge extra conversion fees.

I wish we didn't have the yearly prescription requirement. My contact prescription doesn't change, and $150-$200 a year for exams is expensive! You can get your contacts shipped from overseas, but most don't want that hassle or risk.

Of course, but multifocals aren't what most people think of when they think contacts, they are a niche product. Multifocals also have downsides in terms of your vision when wearing them and aren't for everybody.
If you would have read my comment closely, I did say they don't work for everyone, but monovision or multifocal contacts do work for 65-70% of people.

You stated:
"Without or without laser correction you WILL need reading glasses at some point if you are using contacts to see farther as the contacts are correcting your near-sightedness. So you will be wearing reading glasses OVER your contacts starting when you are around 45-50."

Just wanted to make sure everyone knows this is not completely true and there are options available.

Cool, thanks for clarifying.

Eye doc here. Online contacts as a category are one of the most egregious frauds I know of. We see patients come in with problems to find that their online lenses are either straight up counterfeit or defective (a lot of these sites supposedly do currency exchange arbitrage where they're bought cheap in another country and sit in a freezing or steaming hot storage container somewhere for who knows how long).

I can't say they're all like that but in short, if they're selling a box of contacts for cheaper than a legitimate business can buy them wholesale in bulk, and if the website has some cheesy name like this (vs. say, Walgreens), be very skeptical.

Keep in mind it wasn't long ago that we had people literally dying and losing eyes from contaminated sketchy internet eye drops. Contact lenses should be scrutinized equally.

*Oh, and sites almost never verify with your doctor that You're getting the right product. Sometimes they'll even send a "verification" weeks after they've already shipped the product to the customer. If you doubt, call your eye doc and ask.
Sketchy internet eye drops?! Seriously?! Those eye drops were sold in your everyday retailer store like Walgreens, Walmart and CVS. I'm questioning your credentials at this point.

No, I just ordered my contacts from a company in Portugal, no current prescription needed.

Nah, Amazon. *edit- looks like you're right about Walmart. Definitely wouldn't call "Ezricare" a reputable brand/seller though.

As someone who finally got laser eye correction in 2023 after wearing contacts for years (wore glasses and biofinity torics for 14 years). Get laser correction and be done with it. The sooner the better. It is truly life changing. The potential for problems is way exaggerated if you are getting it done by someone reputable. The procedure itself is painless and is both eyes in 5-10 minutes tops. You will wish you did it much sooner. Plus, recent lab testing has shown that virtually all modern contacts including biofinity have toxic forever chemicals that don't easily leave your body, which for me was the final straw with contacts.
What did laser cost?

It's extremely important to continue to get your eyes checked, there are so many important things your doctor looks for other than your contact prescription.
But at the same time someone like me who doesn't need contacts or glasses isn't really compelled to get their eyes checked, either. I know, I "should", but oh well. Why is it that one can buy reading glasses (I don't need them either) without a prescription, but not contacts? To me the prescription requirement for these is as shady/poorly reasoned as requiring a prescription for most birth control.

Note that the companies with PFAs in the study were Acuvue (j&j), Alcon, and Coopervision. Baush and Lomb was not one of those companies.

Search "Lasik complications" on youtube, watch a few videos, and see how you feel about after that. I know people who have had good experiences with it, but I don't want to roll the dice and hope my vision gets better, not worse.

You can still have eye problems even if you have clear vision. A lot of those problems have treatments available if detected early and minimize vision loss.
Reading glasses are available over the counter because you will need them after 45 (give or take a few years, assuming you have good distance vision and aren't in denial). Contacts aren't a necessity (for 99% of people) and are a risk for eye infections if not properly cared for (which many people do not, plenty of evidence on this thread).

I am fully aware of that. That's not the point.

If one previously got a prescription and knows their "values", one should be free to buy contacts or glasses regardless of whether that prescription is "expired" (or exists at all). Obviously, if the numbers don't work out anymore, the vast majority of people will have no choice but to get an eye exam as they don't have the skill/knowledge and equipment needed to figure out new values. If my prescription still is just fine after 3 years, I should be free to continue to get the same stuff. Is it a good idea to go see a doctor regardless? Yes. But I should have the choice of skipping that if I know what I need.

After all, you could make the same statement about a gazillion of health conditions, many of which can have serious or fatal outcomes if not treated properly. Nothing that special about eyes. Being blind is arguably better than being dead. Personal responsibility...

I tried to get 1800 contacts to pricematch but they wouldn't. Just out of curiosity I checked Costco since that's where I got mine from last time and they were $40.87/box w/ $60 off 4 boxes. Turned out to be $103 shipped for 4 boxes. I'd rather pay $15 more and deal with Costco. But this is a great deal and heads up.
