Arturia MatrixBrute Noir Edition Synthesizer

What makes this synth so special is that it is similar to an old school analog paraphonic synthesizer with massive patchability, but instead of running patch cables you just push a button on the matrix grid which establishes a connection between the analog components. This means you can make patches in seconds, and anything you create can be stored as a preset. It has two separate filters, knob per function, analog effects, aftertouch keybed, lots of CVs in and out, and macro knobs by the mod wheel that can control several things at once. It's built very well and weighs about 40lbs. I love the flip up panel, and I hate that didn't carry over to the PolyBrute.

This is a brand new MatrixBrute for lower than the used cost of almost any decent condition one in the world. I much preferred the original color, but for the money I'm not complaining about the murdered out Noir Edition. There are 500 made, and the discount means they are probably making the next run (white maybe?). When the last ones went into final sell a couple years back, they dropped to $1100 at ProAudioStar. They are now $100 less expensive than that.
  • Analog Matrix Synthesizer
  • 16 x 16 Matrix Grid
  • 320 Preset memory locations
  • 2 Analog Exponential VCO's
  • 1 Analog Linear VCO/LFO
  • 5 input Audio Mixer with Filter routing
  • Steiner Parker filter with 12+24 db per octave modes
  • Ladder filter with 12+24 db per octave modes

I bought mine used for this price about a year ago and considered it a good deal. It's a stellar unit by itself (youtube it), and what I'd consider a vital component to interact with my Eurorack setup.

It's so BIG. Many pandemic synthists have already burned precious space with other keyboard and desktop units. This is a good deal on the brute though.

That's what she said. It is somewhat large, but with knob per function with no menu diving and the patch matrix, it can't get much smaller. I was surprised that it was smaller than I thought it would be when I got one. Still pretty big though.

The Matrixbrute has its fans.
And for them- this is a good price.

To me it is a large footprint with a 'meh' filter. ymmv.

With 2 vintage boards already, I keep my eye out for deals but I've kind of exited the physical board world. I don't have room for a museum and Arturia has given me some deals too good to pass up. I decided to spend that money upgrading my I/O and system hardware.

It's over. That was probably the lowest price you'll ever see for such a featured analog synth.

I thought so too, but it appears to be back at the time of this post. A friend of mine just ordered one.
