A "real" suit minimum would be something like from Jos. A. Bank. FOr $119 on clearance - they're always on clearance btw, get a traveler collection or a 1905 line. I actually prefer the 97/3% wool to spandex for a bit of stretch nowadays, it doesn't sound like you are shuffling sheets of paper like the OP polyester suits. Its something that can last more than two wears, and not fall apart dry cleaninig. Be aware of loose seams, buttons or threads, which are common on all cheaper suits.
As someone who has had a low-paying job that required a suit and who couldn't find the right size at thrift stores, I have a deep appreciation for a cheap suit. And a deep understanding for why someone would buy one.

Who uses suits now a days? I went to an interview and out of 5 candidates including myself there was one person in a suit, it was super awkward and you could tell the interviewer was about to laugh but held it together.
Formal weddings and funerals. Usually get at least one a year. That being said, I personally would rather pay more for 100% wool. They last longer and look better but that's personal preference. I may try out the spier and Mackay that was suggested here for $250 for 100% wool is not too bad deal nowadays if it's quality. Just wish I could see it before buying.
So I'm not a suit expert or anything, but I like Bar III shirts so I wanted to see if they were on sale. They aren't, but there is a sell for their suit separates. I remember grabbing my slate suit from them for definitely less than 150 during some sale (admittedly a few years ago), and that was when they were mostly standard colors. I'm sure inflation isn't helping but 200 for a similar suit in a pink or pale green seems kind of silly to me.

Offices and certain jobs still require suits. Although this isn't probably good for daily use. I needed one from previous sale because possible weddings, funeral attire on short notice. I bought the maitics modern fit and the pants are wider on bottom than I'd like. Andvalso need to alter panth length
