This thing again. This is an overpriced chimney starter. Please do not get if intended to use for BBQ purposes. This is a hot fire good for grilling steaks. But with that said this is overpriced for what it is. I love my Solo bonfire and mesa, but this is not in the same class. It's most likely why solo does not sell these grills directly anymore.

Amazon reviews are important to read. Are mixed and it seems it's a discontinued, specialized grill but has been cheaper before. Pass.

The Grill was designed to provide an optimal experience for backyard cooking and is not designed to function as a fire pit. The Grill does not allow air to come through the top of the unit. This prevents the food from being consumed by the secondary burn, thus it would not produce an efficient, smoke-free flame like the fire pits.

It's a basic high heat grill. I'd probably get it for quick burgers, steak, ribs, and similar meats. But I don't feel comfortable putting it on a table and I don't like the idea of cooking with high heat around crotch level.

Bought it last time and end up returning it. Not as practical as a grill because there is no way to control the temperature. I did use it as a fire pit but it doesn't function like the solo stove fire pit because It doesn't perform a secondary burn.

I owned a Weber master touch for years. About every two years I would buy new parts for the ones that got rusted or wore out. The Weber phone sales people are really nice and would help me each time to decide that needed replacement. I cooked steaks at high temp. Baby back ribs, and Christmas hams and turkeys. I finally got a traeger for slow cooks and a kamoda grill for steaks.

I would not recommend a starter grill that was not a Weber. Buy one like new on Amazon and start grilling.

Question: Can a Solo Mesa or a similar Chinese knock-off be used for grilling meat on skewers, by not using the top "cap" and using charcoal briquettes instead of wood? I understand the size limitation and only being able to use a handful of skewers at a time.

Failed product from solo stove, fire sale on these everywhere and anywhere they can sell them. I like the other stuff just not this.

The mesa is like the size of tall quart paint can. There is good heat generated from it, but fire area is small. Compare it to a slightly larger chafing tray fuel can. Intense heat, but small. It's great for roasting marshmallows.

I just received mine from Woot. It came with a damaged box and dented grill. I emailed woot support and they refunded the entire order without the need to return the product. So, free grill from Woot!
