From the Nutrition Facts those ingredients should be switched. It should read: Sugar, Russet Potatoes, Sugar, a little coloring, some potatoes sweetened with sugar.

18% of your daily value of sugar in just 1/3 cup of this. Don't know about yall but a cup is a serving for me!

Are y'all really eating this on a normal basis, or is this for the prepper crowd?

Otherwise, why not just boil some potatoes?

These are quick and easy to prepare, and also inexpensive.

I haven't yet tried the sweet potato flavor - as this is the first time I've seen it on sale!!! - but I have tried several other flavors and think they're pretty good. (Not as good as making from scratch, but good enough to enjoy.)

This is a lot faster. It takes minutes and you don't have to peel potatoes and wait long. This can be done easily at home, work, on the go. Not everyone has access to a stove at work etc. I'm sure it's out of convenience. I haven't tried this one yet but the regular russet types I've had. I do the same thing with premade rice. Sometimes you just want a meal in under 10 minutes!

There is an unhinged subset of Americans who prefer instant mash to the freshly made stuff. It is the biggest compliment in the world when one of those people is your sister in law and she practically inhales your homemade mash at Thanksgiving.

Potato ricers are worth the investment

It's still showing this price, but when I check out under both subscribe and buy it now, the price jumps to over $9. I tried both Amazon's app and a web browser. I haven't seen this happen on Amazon. The matrix is broken again.

Why not just slice and fry some potatoes instead of going to McDonald's? Americans love convince.

Regular dehydrated mashed potatoes are an excellent soup thickener that I use all the time when homemade soup or stew feels like its missing something and I can't quite put my finger on what. It adds heartiness, a nice flavor, and stretches the soup.
