No, Hulu is the one service that rips the trial away from you as soon as you cancel. If you have a paid month you keep you service till the end of the paid subscription period when you cancel but the trial goes bye bye the moment you cancel with them.
The ads are way more disruptive than youtube. Very frequent and long ads in hulu

Word of warning, Poor Things is essentially a porno for 20 minutes a third of the way in. Keep the kiddos away. Shogun is very good so far. I'd recommend The Great as well.
Lot of comments about the ads and you guys have a point the ads can be annoying but.. and not sure if I got lucky due to the bundle I jumped on years ago and just never bothered to cancel https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif .. strangely enough I haven't run into the four and a half minute ads some are complaining about (did a quick google search and saw some REALLY bitter complaints about hulu ads) or even the 1.5 minutes but 5 of them per hour of a TV show .. so my experience for some strange reason has been different .. if anything I find the ads are not long enough for me to run away and use the bathroom or grab a snack https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...ies/tongue.gif (I will admit in my case that pausing Hulu.. or Netflix for that matter.. wil result in "stuttering" on the video sometimes though exiting out of the offending service and back into it normallly solves the problem it could be a just me thing , other times pausing works just fine)... I will say for the 20 minute anime shows I like to watch the two or three ads throwing in there can be a bit jarring https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
I'd still argue it's worth grabbing the free month and seeing if you like it but as othes have mentioned here absolutely postively set a reminder for yourself on google calendar or something and make darn sure you go into your hulu account online and cancel say a day or two before the trial ends and take a screenshot of that sucker too just in case.
Just remember if you do use any trials they now track your credits cards and emails so you have to blow up your account in the future if you ever want a new trial. I don't know what constitutes a new sub but I had a 2 year inactive (for giggles) tried and it wanted full price.
However with that said I wanted to blow away all my D+ information and there was no way to do that. I spoke w/ chat and they sent me this legal form which I had to fill out to remove my account information and all my personal data. It is amazing how much data Disney collects on you if you take a cruise they also aggregate your data. So I had it all wiped out I will never go to another Disney property again.
I still have the $1 Hulu but if there is a show I like I just download it now and throw it on my Plex server without ads. When they start cracking down on sharing in a few months this will just start pissing people off more, so at some point people will need to start making some real decisions $20+ a month no ads or start rotating services. At some point they will smarten up to that and it will be full on cable pricing and more and want yearly or the like or just make the monthly like $30+.
Once they figure out sports it will be $200+ a month assuming you don't get creative. A few years ago I was paying $7 for no ads and there was more content on the platform. It's not even worth $1 now.

Wow I had no idea Hulu was tracking this sort of thing now ! I'd seen comments on here with people just jumping from one email address to another and back (2 different emails) to do the $1 a month deal perpetually but it looks like Hulu has caught on to this ..

It definitely varies by show. A popular show like Always Sunny in Philadelphia has almost as much ads as a longer show. Some less popular shows barely have ads, or they have an ad break scheduled but the ad doesn't play.

I had no idea - that explains it .. thank you for that info ..
Also my bad sorry you guys .. I am noticing for even the shorter (20 to 30 minute anime shows) one kind of quick ad in the beginning and then 3 or 4 ads each lasting one and a half minute long throughout the anime .. aside from that I haven't watched anything other than the shorter anime shows for the longest time on hulu so can't speak to them .. I will say I was surprised at the short number of ads .. maybe 3 or four at most? But it was a really long movie so I expected more adds.. for Poor Things... I'm guessing 3 or 4 ad breaks I could be wrong.
I signed up for a free month of the $7.99 plan, after inputting my CC. Then I immediately cancelled successfully. The account screen shows my subscription will end on 4/20/2024. I was given this offer at the cancellation screen:
GET 3 MONTHS OF HULU AT $2.99/MONTH
Try our ad-supported plan. After offer period and/or discount(s), you will be charged $7.99/mo. If you are subscribed to The Disney Bundle, you'll give up Disney+ and ESPN+.
Fine Print: FYI, if you currently have a free trial, promotion, or discount and make any updates to your subscription, you'll be giving up the free trial, promotion, and/or discount.
Edit: After doing the above, I checked my credit card to discover I was charged $7.99!
Just a word of caution last time they offered this, i ended up being charged even though it originally said free until the following month. It was only 7.99 so wasn't worth my time to try to contact them.

Give it back to them by signing up using a 'privacy' card with a single use option with a $1 limit. The charge won't go through and you don't have to worry about canceling the subscription after trial

I just saw audiobook deal on SHOGUN series but I prefer to binge watch all the episodes with free month if possible. Love old Japan and missed this when I had the $2 Hulu deal last year.
gotta go for Shogun, one month binge, just don't know how many episodes there are. I can watch low rez on YoutubeTV but the commercials are buzz killer.
I used the gmail dot trick as new user. Took screenshot of offer and used PP.
I only see free month for plan with ads, payment due immediately if you choose no ads. Deal dead, or targeted based on account history?
Same. I got the plan with ads only. There were more ads than I could tolerate. So I ended up not using the service as much as expected. They did send a reminder before the end of trial so at least I was able to avoid the charge. Free with ads is not a great deal to me at all.
*UPDATE* I just found out I was charged for one month even though I received a confirmation e-mail on 4/25 the service "would be" cancelled on 4/26. And my account was showing the service would be cancelled on 5/26. Apparently there is a delay in processing the cancellation, or the system simply doesn't allow self-cancellation at all...
Fortunately the chat rep was reasonable and was able to process the cancellation and refund immediately.
Be careful and check your credit card account if you used the free trial and make sure it is truly cancelled.
Still rocking my Hulu yearly with disney+ no ads add on for $9.99 a month.(Paying a year in advance) Glad I kept this alive since they don't offer it as an add on anymore and only as a bundle.

I cancelled Hulu in Jan 2020 and the promotion is available in my account.
I had a $1 hold on the credit card upon signing up and it has since dropped.
