Batteries won't need to be replaced in 5-10 years. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are good for 10 years of full discharge every single day.... And at that 10-year point, they still have 80% of their capacity left. So if you ran this every other day to near empty, and recharged to full, you'd get 20 years out of this battery and still have 80%.

The price of batteries is dropping about 5% every couple of months. If you're going to spend this much on a battery, much better to get solar first. You can DIY a nice solar system with portable generator back up for the same price and still get the 30% rebate. Unless something happens, the price of these will keep going lower and lower. Better to wait

Whole house generators are roughly $10-20k installed. They'll run for much longer. They will be louder.

This one qualifies for a 30% tax credit and will last 10 years

Maybe it's me but at this stage it may be worth waiting a bit for a proper bidirectional EV charging.
For instance, Lucid already activated bidirectional charging where you can plug another EV into lucid and it charges them. Thats 80-90kw battery and a fun car to drive so a win win.

I like seeing more of these come to market. Yes you could DIY a solution with your own batteries and inverter(s) for cheaper. This is a nice no hassle alternative in a compact package. 30% tax credit helps a lot too. If you don't have an immediate need the prices of these should keep coming down as the battery costs drop.

The only car/truck with active bidirectional charge is Ford F150. Lucid in theory has it but no home charge exists and never scene homeowner have it yet. VW and others claim will come but nothing yet.
Ford system has battery also and it's almost $8-10K for that to work.

I drive one, and already tested charging friend's tesla. I tried asking sales rep when the house charging become available and was said that the bidirectional for cars was their first step and house is the next. No clue on timing but I can wait a year.

Take something out of the ground, light it, and it burns as fuel ..... and that unnatural ... But dig up trace amounts of cobalt, magnesium, toxic lithium, and use toxic chemicals to work with them, and manipulate them using other manmade specialized machinery, to create a battery pack that will pollute the earth when it's buried, rather than biodegrading ...... but the battery is the natural option ... LOL.

Wake up. The matrix has you.
That joke clearly went over your head haha. He was calling the battery "artificial gas" in comparison to a natural gas generator. It wasn't funny, but you completely misunderstood

Anyone knows if the smart panel is necessary to hook up to existing solar system? Got my enphase combiner and wondering if i can just hook up the battery directly without smart panel 2.

Edit: looks like this cannot be grid tied with existing system

Does EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra work with an existing grid tied system that does not have a backup feature?

Unfortunately, EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra cannot connect and feedback to the grid.

Anyone with knowledge/experience, specifically in California, please chime in: I currently have Solar that was installed back in 2020 - took advantage of Fed Tax Credit then.

I opt'd not to get power walls just because I did not see the point/advantage. Although my circumstances have mostly gone the same since installing I definitely see more benefits of having a power wall for off-peak usage. I generate a lot of excess electricity that feeds back to SCE for pennies 😡

If I were to buy something like this, can I:

1) Take advantage of the tax credit again?

2) Set this up so it recharges during daylight/solar production and have it automatically kick on once sundown hits.

3) assuming two is possible, is it a seamless, no moving parts kind of deal/setup? Or will I have to manually hit switches or remember to enable/disable something.

If you have gas appliances (no 220v), you could probably get by with the 3.6 Kw Delta Pro for backup. Internet, TV Lights Refrigerator and Microwave. Even heat. A gas furnace fan doesn't take much.
I back feed my main panel off of an unused 30 amp clothes dryer in the garage. I have an interlock plate on the main power so that the 30 amp feed can only be on when the main street power breaker is off. A small backup inverter generator can charge the battery back up in less than 2 hours. Saves gas and noise. 5 gallons plus a full tank should keep me going for a week if there is a major disaster.

You realize the device you use to get online and comment also has a battery and is using electricity? Sorry to inform but you're right here in the matrix with us 😉

How does this compare to whole house natural gas generator? About the same price. What happens when batteries need to replaced in 5-10 years ? How much do those cost
LFP batteries will last a LOT longer than that. If you're only using this for emergencies, they'll outlast you or I. They'll last 10 years with daily usage, like if you're charging with solar during the day and depleting at night.

Correct, in theory, but there's also a lot of sensitive electronic in these which might not last that long, and warranty is only 5 years.
