I was a flight attendant for 15 years and the bag that I got when I first started flying lasted close 7-8 years being used every week.
After that I I got two more and both of them lasted about a year.
Finally I decided to splurge for Tumi.
Tumi has gone downhill in reliability. The company subsists on being a name brand that people think is amazing quality and gives them status. Briggs and Riley is really the last holdout of quality and anything goes warranty. You pay for it, but your carry on will be passed down to your grandchildren. If you don't want to pay that much then get travelpro or samsonite on sale. Won't make much difference. If it's a carry on will likely last years and give you value for the money anyway.
- I bought travel pro, didn't like it, then I sent it back using prepaid shipping label via Fedex,
- Fedex lost the package
So FedEx was the problem not TravelPro
- Travelpro said that they'll refund me anyways. Never happened. Few weeks later, I emailed them again and they said "no, we have to wait until fedex sends us the package". I've explained so many times that it was lost and it was never going to arrive.
- After more emails, I got fed up and did a chargeback. Initially I was awarded $$$ until credit card company can finish an investigation
- TravelPro sent some stuff back to credit card company and credit card company asked me for more information as it seems I guess they think I was trying to scam them (i was not). I believe they told the CC they were about to refund me but I decided to do a chargeback anyways which I think is not true.
It seems....I guess.... I believe they told....... Which I think is not true...... All of this is guessing and assumptions without a shred of evidence.
- At this point I emailed travelpro that I'll drop the chargeback if they refunded me immediately and they told me "nope, we're going to wait for the investigation to finish"
This one action more than any other , screams "SCAMMER". I wouldn't have refunded you either. I also would have forwarded that to the CC company.
So now I'm thinking TravelPro thought they were going to win the chargeback and take my money. Luckily I provided a step by step communication log and ultimately CC ruled in my favor.
More guessing. No facts. No idea at all if any of this is true.
This was hours and hours of work just trying to get my money back which I basically worked for less than minimum wage dealing with TravelPro
When you should have been dealing with FedEx.
I left a bad review on travelpro's own website which of course to this day I still do not see posted (unsurprisingly).
Avoid TravelPro at all costs. If I had this much trouble getting a refund, imagine the trouble dealing with warranty claims. Shady company.[/QUOTE]
Or shady customer? Which is exactly what it looked like to Travel Pro.
You had trouble getting a refund for a bag you didn't return. fedex lost it and you let them off the hook and went after TravelPro who did nothing wrong.
Hey Frank we've got another one.
The warranty on the softside Platinum Elite is similar to Briggs & Riley but half the cost of a Briggs and Riley. Looks like Travelpro only cover original purchaser but also cover shipping from you to repair center while Briggs & Riley does not cover shipping but you don't have to be original purchaser.
