Bought this on the last deal as I have other Eufy cameras that I've liked over the last couple of years. I had to send it back because no matter what I did, it refused to find any WiFi signal at all despite multiple attempts, factory resetting and more attempts. I'm sure this is hardly a majority experience so take this feedback with a grain of salt but it tainted my view of the model in comparison to any other Eufy products I have.

All of that being said, I'm purely mentioning my experience and not reviewing this model by any means. Eufy has been a fairly stable and reliable brand based on any other purchase I've made from them, cameras or not.

Yeah the WIFI sucks I also had to send my back, and the router was on the other side of the window where the router was, in my position where I wanted to place it

I've had a handful Eufy outdoor cameras and I would def recommend having it at the very least under something to shield it from the elements. I had a couple solar powered ones that needed to be exposed to the sun (obviously) so it would also get a bit wet. One lasted 4 months and the other lasted 9 before they were filled with water.

Most likely it's your Wi-Fi router's issue (e.g. not configured correctly). I've owned many smart devices over the last 12 years and some of them are very picky. For instance, with the Philips Wiz bulbs, it only works on the B and G bands - so in your router, you have to make sure you have it emit both 802.11B/G instead of just 802.11N or A. Had to help my nephew troubleshoot his Wiz bulbs the other time.

Tried with two different WiFi networks, from separate sources, and both failed. I'm not a network engineer but I do know how to connect a basic camera to WiFi.

One thing to note as well is this solo cam only works on 2.4 Ghz networks.

Yep I have 4 solocams and don't have issues when connecting to 2.4ghz. The reason for 2.4ghz is for longer ranges and it can penetrate walls better.

Probably tried to use 5ghz instead of 2.4ghz. Not Eufy's fault. If not then my apologies. But that's the most common mistake cause most of these cameras only work on 2.4

Yup. Like I said, I tried it on two networks and it failed to connect to either. It didn't matter how many times I tried or how close the access point was.

Holy crap, it was a single comment and I have stated that I use and enjoy many other Eufy products. People here keep trying to troubleshoot this. I have a product experience, mentioned it was probably a very isolated incident, and have positive feedback on the brand. Y'all can leave it alone. Im aware of the device's capabilities, requirements, and have had zero issues using any other models of Eufy cameras.

Good Lord. I'm not sure what causes people to make these presumptuously condescending suggestions as to why I, "probably" couldn't get a $50 security camera to work but just take my comment for what it was and leave it alone lol

or maybe because you use the same SSID for both 2.4g and 5g? some times they get confused on that too.

I have one of these on a Deco mesh network, and it's fine when I use it. My nitpick is that I use this as a mobile spot filler, and it spends a lot of time unused and this thing doesn't turn off as much as I'd like, and I'm frequently hearing it switching, like between day and night modes, but all it should be doing is silently waiting for a wifi signal telling it to fully power up.

this seems great, 2k wireless camera for 50 bucks? i dont have any eufy's so now might be the time to jump in. curious about things like pc integration and live view time (usually short on battery cams)

lifehackster has a review

8gb storage on board. i guess you could worry somebody could steal the camera and your footage, but i've learned to stop caring about stuff like that because no security is perfect, it's all just one more detterent, and the thief isnt going to know if you have local, homebase, or cloud storage etc. plus i use these cameras for live view as much as anything. the storage being built in is actually a plus for me, just means i wont have to dig up a sd card.

lifehackster mentioned the included mount is short and not versatile, so you might have to get a better one from amazon. but that would be another 10 i assume, not insignificant when considering a camera this cheap.

he said 3 month battery life which well is not great imo.

the cherry on top is you can add a solar panel later if you want, but its your option. awesome.

one thing to keep in mind thats little known is battery cams only have 30 ft pir detection range afaik. poe cams 100ft. it's a trade off performance vs convenience a mix is good, these wireless are super convenient.

pet/vehicle/person detection free.
