I find that all the extra safety features make the tool unusable. Just practice good safety and if you're really scared, a metal mesh glove works very well.

I have this and paid a little but more than this. I would easily buy this at this price. It's not the easiest to clean, but the pros outweighs the cons. Solid little addition to our kitchen. Pros: no cutting tools to interchange/lose,works great, small footprint, semi-easy to clean.
Cons: small learning curve on figuring out knob functions, cleaning could be easier, price?

That Walmart one is cheaper but is not all one unit. This Dash unit is. Less pieces to store/keep together. The cutting blades are adjusted using two knobs built in to the back side of the mandoline.

But Walmart equivalent is half of that price

Agreed and I'm someone who took off the tip of an index finger with a mandoline. Healed up just fine, fyi.

The metal mesh glove gave me the confidence needed to use it again.

Much braver than me . If that happened I would steer clear but that is just me. Glad you have healed up okay.

I have this model. Works great for fries, hash browns etc. Cleaning is not that bad. I paid $30 a couple of years ago. I'm not interesting in taking a piece of my finger off. I would be one of those who would if I had a regular mandoline... Just cut up 10lbs worth of fries a week ago with it. Recommended

psa, plastic slicers are NOT durable enough for dense root vegetables.
after breaking one like this from a few uses, i ended up getting an all
metal box grater with a slice side similar to

I've been using my $3 unit I got at a garage sale for a decade, and it was missing the thing that you hold the veggie with. Somehow I've managed to keep all my fingertips, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time 😳

I have one like this and I like the safety tool, it's a different design. Also this one has inserts so you can dice as well. Not cheap unfortunately but a game changer for me, can make a huge bowl of pico de gallo in a couple minutes with this:

We have a pampered chef lady in the neighborhood and demo'ed a similar unit but 3x or 4x the price. I was like no way I'm paying that much. I searched for a similar one on Amazon and found something around this price. Very cool and esp helpful when cooking Korean noodle dish with lots of sliced veggies. Love mine and would buy this in a heartbeat if I didn't have one yet.

I put a deep gouge in my thumb with a mandoline a few years ago and haven't been brave enough to buy another. They are sneaky dangerous but this one looks safer than most.
