I have the az2002 and I cannot recommend it.

My last shark lasted me ten years.. this one's fins have already frayed beyond use. I've owned it for a year and use it on carpet. Oh and you can't replace the fin roller, you can only replace the front soft roller. You have to buy a new head if you want to replace the fins.

needless to say I will not be buying shark again *shrug* should have listened to the vacuum nutjobs that sh*t on shark. I knew the fins might suck but I still gave it a chance, so my fault entirely

I have a similar "fins" shark. It catches on my area rug and it's starting to fray. I also have to switch to the hard wood floor setting early or it catches on the carpet. Had a brush roller shark for 5 years before that and never had any problems.

Is this a better vac than the really popular Walmart Shark deal from a few months ago?

This one is the upgraded version that supports Powered Lift-Away with the motorized head; it transforms from an upright to a canister vacuum.

For an extra $20 dollar, AZ1500WM is a better value for money compared to LA500WM

Thanks for the feedback. I cannot figure out if there is any difference between AZ2002 and this model. Too many damn Shark SKU's.

It's probably the same. From what I remember, the skus differ slightly depending on the vendor/color/included attachments, but the vacuum is essentially the same

Is this better than the one at Costco? Shark has so many models it's so hard to compare!

the one posted is "better" but I think if I had to make another purchase, I would pick the one you posted because it has bristles.

The shark vacuum that lasted me nearly ten years was the shark professional. You can still find it on sale from time to time although I no longer know how good it's build quality is.

I just bought one, it's a very good vacuum, strong suction and I like the duo brush with hair pro. Even vacuums lengthy hair without getting tangled, Worth buying.

Probably inferior to the AZ2002 which is still $400 on sale at Walmart

I was very happy with my original/initial Shark from about 15 years ago. The 2nd and 3rd that I have purchased (both from Costco) have been lesser quality and I immediately noticed did not have as good as suction as the original one did.

I own both the original Vertex (2002xxxx model) and the Apex (1002xxxx model). Both of these have the two separate heads. The difference is the vertex has the "fins" and the Apex has the more common bristle brush type.

Both have great suction, both heads are a bit too narrow IMO - which results in it taking longer to vacuum a room, the hoses on both are too short to make them very good at using attachments to reach places, both do a good job of the brush heads not getting clogged up by long dog hair.'

But the 'fin' style heads do a bad job of pulling hair out of carpet. So I'd simply recommend not buying any Shark that uses the fin style brush heads.

Both of these vacuums need a fair amount of maintenance to remain running at peak performance. That means cleaning or changing their two separate filters and cleaning out any hair buildup, especially the little rollers/wheels on the underside. Aftermarket filters are dirt cheap on Amazon or ebay.

I had the exact same experience. Old Shark lasted me ten years so I dropped almost $400 on this one a couple years ago and it's nowhere near as good

I tried this and returned it quickly. It did not do as well as my old Shark. However I went and bought the Stratos (3000) which solved all the issues and got it directly from Shark for 5 years warranty. While they don't come close to my Dyson I had this one is great because I don't have to clean up all the hair on the roller and it isn't crazy on bare wood. I have not had any fin issues, so not sure what is causing that or if its a defect.

With that said it is not very portable and the dust bin is messy when you empty it and seems to be fragile so I assume it will break like my mini shark I gave to my daughter and clogs way too easy She has since replaced that with a Ryobi.

So they dyson is better but it is also 50% more and getting parts for Dyson is really difficult.

If you keep up on maintenance items the vacuum should last a long time. Just set timers to clean the filters.

None of them come close to the Panasonic canister vac I have. That thing is a beast but in my home dragging a canister is a PITA.
